We bought this unit to replace the original CD player in our eighteen year old Onkyo sound system. The only problem with the old player was it wouldn't play MP3 and some home-recorded CDs. Hooked up easily, has great sound and plays anything we feed it. We are real Onkyo fans and this unit has done nothing to change that!

Comments about Onkyo DXC390 - 6-disc CD Carousel Changer:
Very good CD player. The pros include: The CD Player works as expected. I like the blue light night-light feature in the front of the unit, which has a dimmer function. The unit is also user-friendly. That said, the cons include (1) no headphone input, something I've overcome until my AV Receiver and Loudspeakers arrive by buying RCA to 1/8 stereo phono jack and attaching a female barrel and then plugging in my pc speakers (they have volume control). (2) I was a bit taken aback by the sheer bulkiness of the unit. I expected it to be slimmer but fortunately it fits in the space I've allocated for it. (3) It's a bit on the heavy side (because of its bulkiness) but then again this is a stationary unit as opposed to a portable one. I shook it while a CD was playing but the CD didn't skip. All in all, the unit is sturdy and the sound quality is very, very good. I was aware of the lack of headphone input but bought this CD player because the alternatives aren't anywhere near as good. Previously I owned a Sony, which lasted for 14 years, so this is the step-up replacement.

Comments about Onkyo DXC390 - 6-disc CD Carousel Changer:
I bought this unit recently because I was looking for a dedicated CD player to replace my old Onkyo unit that it served me bravely for 13 years.
It functions smoothly and flawlessly right out of the box. When coupled with my Onkyo receiver through the digital coaxial out, the sound is tight and true to the source material.
I have had no problems with CD recognition or playback, and the overall aesthetics of the unit (aluminum face, display, dimmer, etc.) are outstanding.

Comments about Onkyo DXC390 - 6-disc CD Carousel Changer:
I just use the garden-variety playback features, but the sound is really wonderful, and that's the main thing for me.
My only complaint is that the set is a bit light and can wander around its surface too easily. That's really minor. It sounds great!

I use the product a lot as I have an ecclectic collection of music. Alone or when entertaining at home. Very nice for the price! Incredible deal from B&H, along with the great customer service advice on which product was best suited for my budget.
Not all functions have front panel capability. MUST use remote for functions that should be easily displayed on front panel.

this replaced a 301 CD player. It is great, easy to use. We are able to hear the order of CDs that we want vs how they are in player.

USE: Church
We purchased this changer to replace an older (probably 10 yrs.) Technics unit that was having problems with burned discs and scratched discs. I waited a few months to do the review and so far we haven't had this problem with the new changer.
There aren't a lot of rotary changers on the market anymore, which we needed so that we could easily change discs while we were playing one.
I shopped units up to about $350 or so. I read the user reviews and narrowed it down to a few changers that didn't have particular annoyances. In the end, I couldn't see any reason to spend more than I did on this one. Plus, it's a six disc and I like that it's an older model (I figure they have most of the bugs worked out).
Some people complain about the size. This wasn't an issue for me since I wasn't putting it in a home entertainment center. To me it didn't really seem any bigger than our old Technics 5 disc.
The controls are easy. The on-unit buttons are smaller than our old changer but they are above the disc tray. (Buttons below the disc tray is one of the things that ruled out some of the others.) I find myself using the remote (which is easy) whereas I almost never did with our old one.
MY ONE SMALL COMPLAINT: There is a bit of a lag when changing discs. Not terrible, it would never bother a home user. It comes into play for me when I have two songs during the service that are back-to-back on different discs. It can cause a few seconds of mild awkwardness.
I am not an audiophile, so I can't say if it has audiophile-quality sound, but it is certainly adequate for what we're doing.
Overall, an excellent value so far. B&H has the best price on this by the way.

Comments about Onkyo DXC390 - 6-disc CD Carousel Changer:
CD changers are getting hard to find and this one replaced a 15-yr. old Pioneer unit. Playback is easy and straightforward with simple yet adequate controls. It works seemlessly with our new Onkyo TX-8255 receiver and the RI connection is especially nice as is the ability to use only 1 remote for both units. Setup was painless. Sound is fine, though it depends also on the quality of your speakers.

I would have given this CD changer 5 stars but it was larger than I anticipated. This is my fault for not reading the product dimensions before ordering. The product works flawlessly and the features are great for the money. Need the remote to operate some of the fuctions.

Beautiful design, more functions than I need, heavy duty solid in weight and feel, smooth and mesmerizing as its tray glides and slides back in and out, twenty-five percent off a surprise, if I needed two, I would. Doesn't vibrate and scratch cds as the item replaced did, again, because this is heavy and solid unit. I got lucky!

The player is larger than my single play player, but to be able to play six discs without having to change them is great. It was only a matter of minutes to set up right out of the box. So far it has worked flawlessly.

Comments about Onkyo DXC390 - 6-disc CD Carousel Changer:
The Onkyo brand has always been a favorite of mine. And I have recommended Onkyo components to friends numerous times. My recommendations were appreciated; all my friends expressed satisfaction with their Onkyo products (no, I do not work for Onkyo). I feel Onkyo products have always given the consumer the best combination of price and quality. The Onkyo DXC-390 6 CD carousel follows in this Onkyo tradition. It's easy to use and produces a typically great Onkyo sound. And because it holds 6 CDs, its tray had to be larger. And that is my only problem with this changer...it takes up too much space!
