Comments about Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di Autofocus Lens:
The lens has great center sharpness wide open at 17mm. It fills a nice performance spot between 17 and 24mm on a FX or DX camera. It's light enough to carry all day. I don't own a FX camera, so my testing was done on a Nikon D300. I saw very little vignetting in the corners. The lens has good contrast, and matches up well against my Sigma 17-50mm f2.8 DX lens. No real dislikes, at the current price point it's hard to beat. The closest competitor is Nikon's 18-35 f3.5-4.5 and it's twice the price.

I was looking for a nice wide-angle lens for my d80, [...]. I've been very happy with it so far. The range is perfect, and the pictures are clear. Not quite as sharp as a Nikkor lens might get you, but great for everything I use it for.

I just bought this product two weeks ago and have used it in the field for semi wide angle shots. Sharp across the picture. Used it in low light with my Nikon D3 during a concert and the pictures came out great and sharp. Definitely recommended.

Comments about Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di Autofocus Lens:
Sharp focus, smooth bokeh, super wide on FX, close minimum focus, light weight, sturdy build, low cost, what's not to like. Coupled with a D700 (full frame), this lens becomes magical. It's especially great for capturing a lot of things in tight quarters, or for large group pix. What a joy to be able to shoot ultra wide at f/2.8 without having to spend at least $1,000. But don't let the low price fool you. This gem performs on par with any so-called "pro" class lens that costs 4 times as much.

Comments about Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di Autofocus Lens:
I'm using this lens on a D200. Its wide angle range is exactly what i was looking for (25.5 mm to normal 52.5mm in 35mm film terms). In rare occasions where i might need more wide view then 25.5mm, I can put this lens on my good old F100 body and get down to real 17mm.
Excellent optical quality. It is almost impossible to tell the difference between images taken with this Tamron, and with 35-70/2.8 Nikkor.
Low price lens, and excellent value for the money.

Lens does a fine job on my N-80. The 17mm gives good definition, without corner cropping, and having F2.8 gives latitude in lower light conditions for photo journalism. Would buy again.

I love this lens. I've only had it for a little over a month.[...]
Comments about Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 Di Autofocus Lens:
I've had this lens for several months and used it on a D50 and D80 with great success. The lens is well constructed although a little on the heavy side. Images are sharp at all focal lengths with no apparent loss at wide aperatures. Auto focus works equally as well as other lenses I own. There is a little distortion at short focal lengths but I haven't found this to be objectional. I have had some difficulty with lens flare but mostly due to not using the lens hood. The lens hood is large and makes use of a polarizer more difficult. This lens is a great primary, wide lens for the person on a budget.
Expertise: Amateur
Problems Encountered: No major problems. Some lens flare issues but can be controlled with the lens hood. I also have had a few situations where I wished it had a longer focal length.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: various Nikon lenses
Items I Recommend: 77mm polarizer
