Replaced an ITrip IPod FM transmitter with the CPA-9C for use in a factory stereo and the difference in sound quality is huge. Aside from some very minor squeaking associated with the cassette mechanism which I think is inherent to these types of devices, this unit is exactly what I expected it to be. You only hear the squeak between songs and during quieter passages. Great sound quality, decent build quality, and a long cord to connect to my IPod is all I needed...what more could you expect from a device like this? It does exactly what it was made for and is far better than an FM transmitter.

Just like every other audio player to cassette adapter the Sony CPA-9C is easy to use and convenient as they come. The sound quality is good, with the usual gear turning audible and soft hiss present in the background. Turn up the input volume from your player and lower the volume of your car stereo to reduce the noise. The highs tend to become uncontrolled and lows become muffled, for the casual listener it's not too much to worry about. There are two quibbles, the cassette cannot be loaded in a deck where the bottom faces away from you. Also, after several hours of use (and use in another compatible deck) the device "errors" out of the deck in both vehicles. This happens spontaneously, from being very infrequent to sometimes in a problematic repeat fashion. The will cooperative for a short time, get spit out by the deck(s), and play once again only to get tossed back out once more. As this problem isn't a constant day to day thing, as of yet, it is still livable and serves its purpose. I would still take this adapter over an FM transmitter in regards to the slew of troubles the wireless counterpart offers.

Comments about Sony CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter:
Bought this to connect an mp3 player to my car stereo. I had been using an FM transmitter, but with mixed results. This car adapter is much, much, much better (and a fraction of the price)! Sound quality is a dramatic improvement over the FM transitter. No problems with using it in either of 2 cars - both of which have auto-reverse tape decks. No issues with it getting stuck. No mechanical noise when using it one car, and very slight mechanical noise in the other car. But the noise in inadible when the music is playing. Build quality is solid, and cord is plenty long. A great and inexpensive solution.

For the price you can't beat it. Plug the cassette into your car's casseette player, hookup your MP3 player, adjust the volume and your are good to go. Nothing hard about it.

Comments about Sony CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter:
Simple and functional...the CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter Works as promisied. It goes in to the car tapedeck, just like a regular cassette tape. There is a long wire attached from the back end of the cassette to a 1/8 stereo plug. I like the long cord because if the kids in the back want to use their MP3 player, the plug reaches them. I mostly keep the cord up front, and keep it neatly tied up with a twist tie. I use the adapter for the phone/GPS, so I can amplify the sounds on these devices, which helps me stay hands free while driving. I have had the CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter for a few weeks now, and it works perfectly...a very welcome addition to the car, especially during long drives...and a perfect compliment to a smart phone.

Comments about Sony CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter:
This product works great for my car and Iphone. The sound is much clearer than the radio tuner that I had. Every now and then I will get the cell phone sound signal when it switches to edge network I think- but its pretty rare so far. I really like this product and I did a lot of research to see which one was best and it is this one!

The adapter is easy to use and works like a charm. I have a little pouch to store my iphone in that clips onto the air vent so the cord from the adapter is out of the way too.

Comments about Sony CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter:
Our CD changer went out in our Murano and they don't make aftermarket radio units to replace the factory radio. A new unit from Nissan is $650.00, so we spent less than $20.00 for the cassette adapter to hook up our Ipod and we are back in business.
It has great sound and very convenient to use. Great savings !

Comments about Sony CPA-9C Car Cassette Adapter:
I had the older model of the CPA Sony car adapter, and it lasted for many years... Then the cord near the adapter plug frayed. So I had to buy two more (non-Sony) adapters, and they wouldn't work... they kept auto-flipping in my cassette player. I should have just ponied up for a Sony to begin with instead of switching to another brand (esp. when the Sony one worked fine for years.) So without further ado, this Sony works flawlessly. Great sound, and it doesn't auto-flip. Great product. I would give it 5 stars, but the place where my older one frayed doesn't look to be fortified.

I tried buying some of the cheaper ones and they were awful. This one works well. Not quite the same as having a built in ipod adapter though.
