This is a 4-channel radio slave tranceiver with accessories, designed for use with Bowens or other monolights or AC Strobe power packs.
Radio slaves are more dependable than infared, or optical slaves. They operate on specific radio frequencies that are more immune to interference and failure. An additional studio slide-switch provides additional protection from other photographers' triggering of radio slaves.
This is a tranceiver, which may be used as a transmitter, or receiver, by flicking a switch. Order a second transceiver, for complete control from camera to flash. Includes AAA batteries.

I puchased 3 of these units to use with a Bowens monolight kit to ensure there were no false flashes due to other flash-using photographers.
The units had the features I wanted including multi-channel capability, compatibility with the monolight kit, compactness, ease of use, the ability to use them interchangeably as strobe firing receivers or as a transmitter on a camera, and the use of AAA batteries for power.
In early use, one of the three units had a tendency to infrequently not fire a flash when commanded by the unit acting as a transmitter. This appeared to be caused by a flash trigger port on that unit that did not fit the cord as snugly as the other two units. I now use this unit as the camera transmitter and all units have worked without any problems since.
Note: Since the change-out corrected the problem I was experiencing, I did not contact the manufacturer or B&H for resolution.
I have used these units with Nikon D300 and D80 cameras without further incident. When I expand my monlight kit in the future I will very likely purchase another of these units for the new light.

I purchased 3 of these radio slaves about 3-years ago. I use them for event photography and to fire off my two strobe lights. Sometimes they will trigger the flashes unexpectadly or sometimes they fail to trigger the flash when I trip the shutter on my camera.
I photographed a function recently and the radio slaves would not work even after I replaced all of the batteries. I had to resort to using a sync cord from my camera to my strobe. This was a nuisance because I nearly tripped over the cord several times. When I got home I tried them, and off course, they worked.

Powerful transceiver, easy to use, all purpose to triggering in studio, outdoors and other locations, short and long distances. You need an Pulsar Trigger Insert Card in one of the Bowens Gemini and the other flash-head you must to use like "slave" option "cell".

Comments about Bowens Pulsar Radio Slave Tranceiver:
This product is very reliable. prior to owning this i always was concerned if the flashes went off, so i was focused on the equipment not the creative process. Now i focus on the creative process and the Pulsar radio units take care of the technical part. First time every time. It shows in my work.

I use this to sync wirelessly between my Nikon D300S and my Bowens Gemini 500 lights. My set of 2 does the job fabulously from whatever angle I happen to be at, no matter what is in the way. Love it!

Comments about Bowens Pulsar Radio Slave Tranceiver:
These units are dependable and easy to use. The only thing I don't like about them is the stubby antenna. It sticks out in a way that makes the item cumbersome to pack. Instead of just being able to put 3 or 4 in a lens compartment of your camera bag you'll have to get an extra case just to protect that stubby little antenna. It's also unfortunate that a hot shoe isn't included in the design. If they got rid of the antenna and added a hot shoe it would be perfect!

I've been using the bowens pulsar triggers for years at my studio. They work a treat, very reliable and last forever!
However, when they aren't taken care of, the plastic at the base tends to break too easily and the batteries fall out. Which is why we'll be taking more care of our new ones.

Comments about Bowens Pulsar Radio Slave Tranceiver:
I use the Pulsar radio slave with my studio lights. I have been tethered by a cord for so long, it was a tremendous step up for me. The Pulsar's are easy to use, and allow me to roam anywhere int he room and still have control over my lights. No more worrying about someone else tripping my strobe with their camera flash. Great product, I'm glad I spent the money.

This is the first product of its kind that I've used and so far so good. I took these babies out last night for some test shots and so far I've had no problems.
I'm still wondering how they will work in extreme cold weather. No mis fires so far. And they were easy to set up. The only thing I could comment on as for now is the housing. They don't seem fragile but they also don't look very durable. I'll update once I've used them for a while.

Comments about Bowens Pulsar Radio Slave Tranceiver:
It is a great system and it works perfect. I love the design, plastic, but well done. The only thing that i dont like it's the cable that it comes to plug into the monolights. It doesn't fit properly, the pc end its not strong to keep it plugged, so you move the monolight , and it disconnect itself. So i had to use tools to put it harder and it works, but I.m gonna buy not the pc cable. a mono cable with two male ports. That's something cool of this system. You have a lot of port options.

My first pick was the pocket wizard, however the price was questionable to me. After purchasing and trying the tranceiver of over 100+ shoots, I concluded this was an excellence choice. I do like the low profile of the tranceiver and the easy feature to setting it up. It was so simple to setup that I didn't bother with the direction.

Comments about Bowens Pulsar Radio Slave Tranceiver:
In my crowded studio with too many wires everywhere, Including the cable from my Phaseone back to the computer, this unit frees up floor space and reduces possible accidents by allowing me to get rid of the sync cord to my flash units. These things work really well (one unit for each end of the old cord) between my camera and my Bowens mono lights, easy set up that gets out of the way (with the use of accessory clips that attach to the flash shoe attachment on each unit) and an unobtrusive red LED letting you know they're on, but they do not with my Norman 24/24 power packs. From the LEDs I can see the synch is transmitting but the Normans ignore it, probably a voltage issue.

Comments about Bowens Pulsar Radio Slave Tranceiver:
At first I could not get the unit to trigger trying all the channels and frequencies. Eventually it started to fire my lights without really knowing what I did different than before, but since then it has worked fine. I am just a little worried someday it may do it again is my only negative. Other than that it is very convenient and easy to use.
