I purchased this DVD because I have been working on a video project and could not download the JVC footage with my current editing systems. This DVD identified which video systems could either edit the footage outright or be adpated to download and edit the footage. Surprisingly, Adobe Premiere Pro and Final Cut Pro could not directly edit the JVC hi def footage and required costly additions to complete the job. In A. Premiere's case, I would have had to purchase a 749.00$ Cineform disc and this was out of the question. The alternative was purchasing Ulead Media Pro 7 but this was not available so I purchased Ulead Media Pro 8 online for 127.00 (shipping included). So with UMP8 in hand I am now editing the footage and with out B & H Photo's (nearly) complete inventory I could not have finished my project. I had been searching the internet far and wide and no one, other than JVC - for a more expensive price, had the disc. In addition, the Ulead program directly edits the footage and the only othter cost effective program is one offered by JVC. And considering their program is specialized, it is for editing JVC footage alone (and costs more than the Ulead), it was an easy choice to purchase prosumer UMP8.

Beyond identifying which editing system to use the video showed the proper technical settings to maximize useage of the HiDef Camcorder.

The downsides of the video is corporate propoganda but that is a common downside. JVC exalts this camera and compares it to more expensive (professional) cameras but the GR-HD 1 has a history of breaking down and any camera that malfunctions is not a bargain and any price. The camera, which I do not recommend buying, is the first HD consumer camera on the market. While a applaud JVC for setting a trend the camera is 1 chip, versus 3 chips, so its color is not as good as a regular 3 chip HD camera. Consequently we are editing the film in black and white.

In all, this disc was indispensible and I could not have finished the project without it.

I purchased this dvd along with the JVC GR-HD1, and it is a very helpful tool for learning how to use the camera! It highlights some neat features of the camera that I otherwise probably would've overlooked.
