Comments about Cavision MB385P 3x3 Matte Box:
I use this on my NX5u and it works perfectly with the widescreen aspect ratio. It is made of a soft, but rigid rubber. It's a GREAT alternative to the more expensive matte boxes.

Comments about Cavision MB385P 3x3 Matte Box:
This is a great matte box for small cameras. I bought the MB385 with Cavision's RS-816 mini-rail system and it fit my Sony HVR-A1U perfectly. The box is surprisingly well made considering its affordable cost. The technical support from Cavision was outstanding. They assisted me in the selection of the appropriate components to build a complete matte box system for the A1-U camera and lenses.
The 3x3 size does not overpower smaller cameras. The matte box and the mini-rail system provide a balanced platform for any type of shooting. The two filter trays are made out of aluminum and are very stable. While the matte box hood is made out of rubber, the balance of the assemble is made from aluminum and poly-carbonate. Very solid for the light weight.
Bottom line, if you are looking for matte box system for a smaller camera/camcorder, Cavision offers a quality product regardless of the price.

Comments about Cavision MB385P 3x3 Matte Box:
I purchased this matte box for my Panasonic AG-HMC40. Using it with a support rods system and a couple of step-up rings, it provides a usable way to block out stray light and add glass filters in front of the lens. It also adds a professional look to the camera. The matte box attaches to the camera lens via tightening it on to the step up ring.My only complaint is that since it is made out of soft plastic, it's not as rigid as some of the more expensive, professional models. [...] Looking forward to many years of use!

Comments about Cavision MB385P 3x3 Matte Box:
I bought this with the Cavision RS816 rods system, RPSHC spacer, and MBF3 flag for my Sony HVR-A1U camera. The quality of all four Cavision items is very high. The matte box is very lightweight and does not interfere with the microphone. I do not have Sony's wide-angle adapter, but with the factory Zeiss lens there is no problem seeing the edges of the box in frame. Be prepared to purchase some step-down adapters in order to get a light-tight fit: for the A1U, this meant an additional $25 for a 58mm to 82mm step-up (Cavision AR8258) and a 37mm to 58mm step-up (Raynox RA5837). The matte box can either be supported by the rods sytem (very stable, requires you to keep up with two different sizes of hex key) or attach directly to the camera clamped on by a tightening screw. It is worth purchasing a spare 3x3 UV filter or black insert to use as a "lens cap" with this matte box, especially for outdoor shooting.
