Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
Order directly from Cavision if you want the adjustable rear bracket plate. B&H shipped me the old system which has no rear height adjustments. I will be returning mine back because B&H's description shows the new system, but ships the old one.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
It does what it's suppose to do. I had Canon HF100 with Letus Mini, and it fit well. But if you wanted to add a follow focus and mattebox, it's not going to happen with this. Overall it's good for just the camera and 35mm DOF but any accessories or longer lenses (250mm) then you're screwed.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
reap camera plate is NOT an adjustable one, as pictured (manufacturer admits) therefore the plate sits too low for my camera lens and matte box blocks lens. I was forced to order additional part from manufacturer and wait an additional 4-6 weeks to see if it will work. I dropped over $250 bills on matte box and rails and still don't know if it will fit my rig. also there are adapters to lenses that are not included or even mentioned as being needed as there is absolutely NO documentation with anything, either matte box or rails. the ait time for additional parts ordered to try to make it all work go well beyond return period (if this fix doesn't work). Be careful as unless you are willing to piece together a rail and matte box system over a few months time, this will be one major hassle. On the other hand, i have been working to solve misfit with manufacturer and they have tried to find piece i need. but it costs me more money, for something that B&H has pictured as part of the rail system. B&H should reimburse me for the additional cost to get the rail system it pictured. what they sent won't fit a camera it says it should.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
The thing itself works great, but you can't adjust the Baseplate hight. So with use of my Canon7d or my Panasonic SD300 the Mattebox 3x3, is still to high for the Lens and a little bit out of the Line. So mayby with a second Baseplate underneath the Camera it might works well. But, than, you better go with the 15mm Version of the Rod System for 160 somthing $.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
I built a depth of field adapter for my video camera and needed a way to support the extended lens. For the price, this thing is built for the job. The ability to adjust the support was key for my project.
I was really surprised when the box arrived. It seemed too small to have this item in it...but it was in there. This thing is small and light weight enough to throw in your camera bag or case and take with you everywhere.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
I'm using this with my Canon HV40 and when I opened the shipping box to find an even smaller box... I mean, MUCH smaller... I was a little surprised. I knew it was made for DV camcorders but this thing is freaking TINY!Anyhow, it does the job well. And on the account that it's so small, it is in fact very light weight. It is a little flimsy and kind of hard to really make you camera completely level on there. But with some fiddling, you should get it. Just be sure to lock it down very tight.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
I bought this with the Cavision RPSHC spacer, MB385P matte box, and MBF3 flag for my Sony HVR-A1U camera. The quality of all four Cavision items is very high. The matte box mount includes two different sizes of hex keys in order to adjust, so be prepared to keep up with those. The rods can be individually adjusted if need be. My set is very tight and steady. One note of caution: both of the hand-tightening parts on the left side of the rods system are removable -- use caution when loosening the base plate or preferably, "set it and forget it" and get a camera bag/case large enough to store the rods system, accessories, etc.

This rod support is perfect for my needs. I picked it up to go with my camcorder, DOF adapter, and lenses. Works great. Very lightweight and compact, not a chore to work with.
It's easy to figure out, you'll be up and running in no time at all.

Comments about Cavision RS-816 8mm Light Weight Rod Support System:
I use the rails to support my Letus Mini and my HV30.
I wouldnt have my setup any other way, it is so light but it holds perfectly the weight of the Letus. The extending mechanism works very good. And even leaves space for additional mounts.
The only complaint is that the packaging doesnt look very professional and it only includes one allen key but it has 2 diferent kind of screws, I dont take one star of my rating because I have a set of allen keys but others may have to purchase one after finding this out.
Anyway if you have an HV30 and plan to get any extra accesories then this is a MUST.
