Lumedyne 400 Watt Second Action Power Pack - Xtra Short Flash Duration, Xtra Fast Recycle
The Next Generation Power Packs offer the familiar simple controls that have been available from Lumedyne for over thirty years. Enhanced manufacturing techniques allow Lumedyne to offer greater reliability and accurate 7 light Battery power level indications.
This power pack features an extra fast recycling time -- 2.5 seconds @ 400 w/s, 1.5 seconds @ 200 w/s and .8 second @ 100 w/s. Also, flash duration has been shortened to 1/1500 second for those photographers who shoot with leaf-shutter cameras in bright ambient light. These features make this pack suitable for most sports events, and fashion runway photography. It is backward compatible with all Classic flash heads.
Note: Not compatible with Boosters, AC Adapter, Small Battery (BSML), Automatic, or Speed Modules.

I use the P4XX for stop action photography with a leaf shutter camera. The pack outshines any other lighting system with its power and quick strobe duration. The 400W/S setting allows for the unit to be placed roughly three times farther away from the subject than the typical conventional flash, while matching it in power. Thus, a looser composition is enabled as framing is not restricted by weak, closely placed flashes. The increased distance between subject and pack also creates a much more diffused and natural looking light.

Great for action photography like Skateboarding and BMX in the middle of the day. Slightly larger than the 200w/s model which makes it hang out half in inch in a super trekker while a medium size battery is attached.
