Every time you close the capture window in Final Cut, it changes the input selection. Other than that is a pretty ok product. go with the Motu HD Express.

This was exactly what we needed to interface the video cameras from our video mixer Edirol V-4, so that we could convert the S-Video output into the firewire port of the iMAC.[...]

Comments about Grass Valley TwinPact100 Bi-Directional Analog / Digital Video Converter:
I purchased the TwinPact 100 to capture the video screen off presentations for numerous conferences I run. The TwinPact 100 offered the ability to capture exactly what was on the presenters screen, passing it onto the projector.
I like the compact design. I need a small, portable set up and the goal was to use the TwinPact with a Mac Mini for easy transportation and set up.
Unfortunately, my pre-conference testing uncovered something that was later confirmed by Grass Valley support: the TwinPact 100 compresses all video down to 720x480 before saving to disk. So if you have a display screen set to 1024x768 or higher, which is typical of modern presentations, the compression makes most of the test unreadable with the exception of very large titles.
All the websites (Grass Valley's, B&H and all others) taut how the device had display up to 1600x1200 but fail to mention the 720x480 output limitation.
The latest version of the Mac software (and possibly the Windows software) was written in 2003, long before HD became common place.
If you are trying to capture VHS tapes or other video that is 720x480 to begin with, this would be a great tool to help digitize that media. This limitation made it useless to me and I had to return it.

We used the product to convert VGA video to DV for a web cast. Worked right out of the box, just as stated on the website info, no surprises. Would be nice if it had a BNC composite in-put and out-put.

Comments about Grass Valley TwinPact100 Bi-Directional Analog / Digital Video Converter:
This unit works great as it says bi-directionally but the great benifit is the mouse tracking option.
You must load the software to make it work best but the magified images that follows the move mouse on the screen is the cat's meow.

Comments about Grass Valley TwinPact100 Bi-Directional Analog / Digital Video Converter:
I purchased this device to convert a VGA output from a computer to the DV input of a video mixer. The setup was practically plug and play and the video scan conversion adjustments when smoothly enough. My only real gripe is that the scan conversion parameters (position, size, brightness, contrast, etc) are not represented by numerical values on-screen which makes calibrating the settings a little more tricky. These values may be available using the associated Windows software, but it would be nice to see them on-screen during setup. The scan conversion is good to excellent and the one step from VGA is DV is very convenient. In my setup I'm not even tapping the potential of this device as a true two way problem solver for people working with both digital and analog video. The vast input options, scan conversion, and AD/DA capabilities make this quite a potent package.
