Usually I buy high-quality clone cartridges, but I have noticed with the (new) drivers under Windows 7 that my R800 now prints significantly lighter (unsaturated) colors. When I switched back to Epson (OEM) cartridges, it prints fully saturated colors and they colors are much truer to the screen (RGB) colors. I suspect this may be a driver behavior since the driver knows when the cartridges are not OEM.

I use this ink in an Epson R1800 printer. The color is outstanding. I only have clogs when the printer goes for an extended period without being used Even then I've never had one to take more than two automatic cleanings to clear and most of the time it only takes one. Prints made on Epson luster paper will match most any printer Don't bother with third party inks. The color won't be as good and clogging is a real problem.

I first started using the Epson Stylus Photo R 800 Printer shortly after it was out in the market place. What prompted me to purchase this printer is because of the samples of excellent, quality prints I had seen at a Pro photography store. The inks for the R800 were so true to life, not rendering an over saturated and plasticky look. Skin tones appeared so natural, landscapes, wildlife, flowers and insects appeared to come to life. This is what I had been waiting for. I need the best possible quality ink that gave true colors and that was not going to fade in my lifetime.

My choice of paper was, and still is Epson's best matte surface. If I could get excellent colors on matte paper I believed that this ink would work greatly for all my applications. Mainly, I make custom greeting cards and have published two books on my own, using Epson inks and papers.

It's been around five years now since my first books were printed and, the quality is as good as prints made at the present time. If Epson continues to manufacture quality inks such as the ones used on the R800 and R1800, then I feel confident that my custom cards and other reproductions will always be in demand.

These inks have kept me in demand for the photo refinishing I do, since my clients are always pleased beyond their expectations. I've worked in many areas in photography and expect that after thirty-five years in this field, I'm not going to stop too soon. Hopefully there will continue to be refinements in inks and paper surfaces.

The only drawback I find with any ink products is the high cost for the tiny amount of ink in each cartridges.

I own an Epson R1800 and BH Photo is the least expensive place that I've been able to purchase the ink cartridges as a set. I find it best to keep at least one of each of the cartridges on hand to avoid having to make last minute trips to the store to purchase the more expensive ones. The OEM cartridges are the only ones that seem to provide quality prints for my customers. The only thing I don't like about the cartridges is the cost.
