The TERK AM ADVANTAGE is a passive indoor AM antenna designed for superior reception and extended ranges. Perfect for the sports or talk radio enthusiast, this antenna picks up stations that other antennas miss and tunes out static on many others.

The description doesn't say this, but once you tune in a station on your radio, you then have to tune the antenna to the same station. So instead of being an antenna that boosts the signals for all stations on your radio, it requires you to change the dial on your antenna every time you change it on your radio. Besides that, it doesn't give any noticeable improvement to the signal. We tried it with every station we could think of and heard no difference whatsoever.

I live on the Oregon coast and AM reception is not good to say the least! The Terk AM antenna worked so well in picking up Eugene stations (60 miles) that I ordered another for the garage AM radio.

My wife wanted an AM radio to listen to Talk Radio, so I bought her a very nice Tivoli model one. But alas, reception was so noisy she said she couldn't live with it and planned to return the radio. Decided to purchase the Terk AM antenna from B&H to improve reception. The improvement with the Terk was incredibly amazing and effective. She is now a happy camper listening to Talk Radio.

Solved my AM reception problem. Little loop anntena supplied with the radio didn't work and a rod anntenna on a boom box also didn't work. Hooked this up and dialed in the station and its crystal clear. Very happy with the product.

I tried installing the antenna with the miserly instructions included with the unit. Once installed I moved the antenna to several positions - no luck. The antenna was directly connected to the receiver. This unit produced worse reception than I was getting using the old antenna I have. This unit deserves a -1 star.
I plan on returning it for credit.

We bought this antenna for our Delaware second home, so that we could pick up Mets radio broadcasts in NY. It really works well. The Mets station, WFAN, is a powerful station as it is, but the antenna allows for consistently clear reception, slightly better during day games than night games, when there may be more interference from those pesky traveling radio waves. Seriously, though, well worth the price.

I've three of these Terk antennae in my house. It is pretty simple: If I'm listening to AM radio in a room then the tuner there will be wired to a AM Advantage.
Pros:
- pretty stylish for an antenna
- works well at pulling in weak signals and allows fine tuning around the frequency, not possible with modern digital tuners, to lock in on a signal.
cons:
- it is kind of large and hard to secrete.
- works best directly wired to the tuner, it can help in unwired situations too but the efficacy is diminished considerably.
In conclusion, the Terk AM-1000 is the best AM antenna that I've come across, and one of the few AM specific solutions on the market. It can improve reception considerably over the "in the box" wired antennas that manufacturers provide.

I have never been able to get even decent AM Reception in my studio which is located in a factory building with a lot of machinery and steel. There is also an AM Broadcast tower nearby. If you live in or near a big city like NYC, this is a MUST-HAVE. Without it, even my top-of-the-line Denon receiver was hopeless when it came to AM listening. Once hooked up to the AM terminals, oriented properly, then tuned, AM radio came into full, clear, strong bloom at long last. This item is worth every penny, and a few dollars more. Static is now minimized while the program is boosted loud and strong but remember, you have to play with the antenna's placement, orientation and tuning to get the full benefits.
