We have an old Dell Computer (Dimension 4100) that has a USB 1 Port. Our New Digital Camera from B&H needed a USB 2.0 Port. The Iogear 5-Port USB 2.0 was the perfect choice. It was low cost, easy to install, and compatible with XP-SP2 Operating System. The Installation was fast and easy. The computer immediately recognized the new card, and did not require any secondary installation procedures. We've already used the port in conjunction with the new digital camera and it worked perfectly.Don't you just love it when everything works well right out of the box. [...]

I installed this PCI card on a Mac MDD running 10.5.8. At first, I was using it primarily for flash drives and peripherals: a scanner and printer. However, when I more recently have tried hooking up external hard drives, the drives will not mount, unless I unplug the printer then plug the drive into that port. So these are irritations, but I figured I would just live with it.
However, the real issue started when I purchased a 2TB drive that is USB 3 (and is backward compatible). For the most part everything would work when writing or opening files on the 2TB drive, but when trying to copy files to the same drive or to another drive, I will receive occasional disk error messages. After a while, the drive will not open any file at all (giving me a disk error message), and will not allow me to eject the drive unless I restart the computer. I know the PROBLEM is with the PCI CARD because as soon as I plugged the drive into the computer's USB 1 port, everything works just fine (albeit very slowly).

Comments about Iogear 5-Port USB 2.0 PCI Card:
It just works. An old Gigabyte 7DX mobo (BIOS = 2001) defeated another add-in USB card w/VIA chip set, likely due to resource conflict. An economical way to add USB 2.0 and extend the usefulness of an old WinXP box.

Opened up my old MDD Mac, popped in the USB card, closed it up, and plugged in my USB components. The Mac rebooted and everything ran flawlessly. Very nice since external USB hubs are running at twice the price.

Comments about Iogear 5-Port USB 2.0 PCI Card:
This PCI USB Card arrived very quickly and installation was very simple. My Mac didn't even need any drivers or software to be installed. I have only had a few chances to use it so far, but each time it has worked flawlessly.
I only have one complaint about the card. I installed the card in an Xserve and the ports are so close to the top of the card that the edge almost gets blocked by the metal around the PCI slots on the machine. If the ports were centered on the bracket this wouldn't be a concern. However, I wouldn't really think this would be a problem for most installs.

This PCI card worked immediately upon installation, with no hiccups. I can't say anything bad about it, and at such a low price it was a great deal.
