    I bought this to attach an accessory rail i built from a 1 inch aluminum flat bar i bought from HD. When you tighten the screw, the top compresses down for a secure fit to the shoe mount.

      The headline says it all. We have gone through four of these (in one year) which makes it darn difficult to be professional wedding videographers when our light keeps falling off of our camcorder because of a design flaw.
