These spiked feet are great for adding tripod stability on loose ground. In sand, small gravel, and loose soil, they work as advertised. They work much better than Manfrotto's spike kits, simply because the Giottos spikes are longer. If you have a wide leg spread, the Manfrotto spikes won't penetrate far enough into the ground, but these do. The rubber foot is high quality rubber and provides great traction when the spike is not needed. They do have one con however: removing the rubber foot from the spike is very difficult. I have strong hands and it's a fight to get the cap off. The removal tool that came with my tripod is essential for doing so and even then, it's a struggle. It does become slightly easier with time though. At least I never need to worry about the foot accidentally falling off. 4.5 out of 5 stars for a near perfect product, at a reasonable price.
