Celestron manufactures the Ultima line of prismatic spotting scopes in 65mm, 80mm & 100mm varietals to suit your needs. The larger two can also be had with ED (extra-low dispersion) glass elements, an expensive product which produces a marked improvement in the color fidelity, resolution and edge delineation of the scope's imagery. All the Ultima line are mated to an eyepiece and render views which are both rightside up and laterally correct to the world, making them good for both terrestrial and celestial observing. All Ultimas are waterproof, making them more robust than ever before. Celestron surely is delivering exceptional value.
The Ultimas now offer the choice between 45° angled viewing or straight viewing as you prefer. Most users will prefer angled scopes because they are both simple to use for birds perched high above the viewer as well as easily simultaneously shared amongst users of differing heights. But some will prefer the straight viewing models, for these are much easier to use when hunting down the object of interest in the first place. Straight viewing models are also usually a bit lighter, brighter and less expensive. The choice is yours.
Certain Celestron products include their wonderful "No Fault" warranty coverage, which assures that your binoculars will be repaired or replaced at Celestron's option for as long as you own them-no questions asked! The only requirements on the user's end are to ship the binoculars(at the user's cost) to Celestron with a proof of purchase and a check or money order for $25 to cover the costs of inspection, shipping and handling. This warranty service is valid only for USA and Candadian citizens purchasing from an authorized Celestron dealer.

This scope provides great performance for the price, is easy to use, and is the perfect compact size for our use at home, looking at wildlife the far side of a field by day, or at stars in the sky at night. The carrying case is zippered such that you can mount the scope on your tripod and use it without completely removing the case. Focusing is quick and easy and clear. All in all, it's a great value.

Solid construction, very smooth focusing as well as its zoom. Image quality is poor. Border quality is very low, depth of field is terrible. Good compromise when considering its market price, but do not expect this to be your birding scope. I have a Leica Ultravid 8x42 binocular and there is absolutely NO comparison in terms of image brightness. You get what you pay for.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
My celestron ultima 80 is used for high power shooting events, specifically across the course matches with positions as 200,300,and 600yds. The overall build quality of the unit is much better than those costing the same or even more. It's sturdy, well put together and carries a great mfg warranty. The optics are ok. I have used much more expensive optics, and sorry this scope does NOT compare.... Not even close ( sorry to all those that say it does). But, for an entry level price it is VERY acceptable and superior to many even at twice the price. .22 cal holes are visible at 200 yds ( provided you have a stable tripod) and scoring disks are easily seen at 600yds without zoom extensively. Mirage IS seen, but is not as easily read as with bight quality optics. For the price of [$] it is an excellent entry level scope that will serve a shooter well until the decision or the cash is available to upgrade. As a bonus, when upgrading you will get most of your money back out of the scope by selling online auction site

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I purchased the Ultima 80 3.1/80 as a gift for a friend who shares my passion for black-powder shooting. I unpacked to check the condition and was struck immediately by its size and robust construction. Then I checked the optics-brilliant!
No obvious spherical or chromatic aberration. The huge primary lens has an excellent light gathering capacity. At high magnification the image remains clean and crisp.the view piece, which is received separately,is of good quality and has an optimal viewing angle for my purposes.
Though there is an expected drop on light intensity at high magnification, targets at 300 yards remain easy to read.
There is only one problem- that is I want one too and have spent my allowance for the month!

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Scope seems to be of very good quailty. It has good heft and the assembly seems precise. More than one might expect for the price. There are much better scopes on the market but their cost is 3 or 4 times as much (or more) and for most users, the image you will see with this scope will blow you away.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I mostly use this product to look at the sky at night. It is amazing for closer objects. Jupiter is very visible, even its moons can be seen, although it appears to be very small. I assume you can upgrade the eyepiece to a stronger zoom, however. The product appears to be very durable, but hard to control on a standard tripod. I'd recommend a SLIK PRO-340DX TRIPOD w/504QF head, although this tripod is a bit short for me.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I have only used it on the 100 yard range but so far it's been great. Very clear optics. I think it will be great on the 200 yard range to. I have looked through 60mm spotting scopes that cost more and won't hold a candle to this one. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it did'nt come with a tripod and it said it did in the description. I already had one so it was not that big a deal to me.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
It was a nice suprise. I was expecting it to be just ok for the price but after using it for a while I'm really impressed with it. It's not quite as good as my Pentax but for the price you cannot go wrong. The clarity of the optics on this are far better than you'd think it was going to be. I've started carrying this around everywhere I go rather than the other one. It will also produce a rather nice picture with the t-ring adapter on it.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I bought this spotting scope to use at the rifle range and also for my front room. It works very well at 20 power, but loses a bit of eye relief as you zoom up. At max power it still works fine but the view is a bit milky and as I mentioned the eye relief is shortened considerably. All in all a good scope for it's intended purpose, specially for the price.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Used for target spotting. Quite good up to 200 yards, acceptable 300. Fun to use for quick look at the moon and major planets. Tripod connecting point a bit difficult to engage (screw / unscrew), but solid once in place. Smooth focus knob operation. Use a "serious" tripod for best performance (true on any scope). Good lens coatings, no distortions / aberrations noticed in my use, including minor astronomical use, as noted above. For the price paid [$] on sale), very good finish and quality overall.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I bought this scope primarily for target shooting. It replaces an old 60mm B&L Discoverer. It is a much better scope. Eye relief is much improved over the old one, and image brightness is much better. I can easily see .30 and .22 cal holes at 200 yards. I can read fine details on electrical transformers on telephone poles 150 yards away, and see the peeling paint on my neighbor's house with incredible detail. I think that the eyepiece case and zippered case are well-designed. Construction, fit and finish are impressive for the price. (For my purposes however, the tripod is useless).
As long as you are not expecting a Zeiss or a Swarovski, you will be happy with this scope. For the money it's a very good deal.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
I purchased and use it as a spotting scope on the rifle range where it works great. Properly set up you can see a 22 rifle bullet hole on a target at 200 yds. This saves a lot of time and effort in walking back and forth to check the target for the location of the hits.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
Great distance range for scoping wildlife; good optics; easy to use; the tripod that's included in the kit doesn't have the sturdiest mount support for the scope; scope wobbles when adjusting focus & range. For my extended outdoor uses, I should have just bought the scope and a separate, better tripod.

Comments about Celestron Ultima 80 3.1"/80mm Spotting Scope Kit:
For the money you can't beat this scope. Eye relief for eyeglass wearers is good as long as you fold back the rubber eyecup. Its waterproof, and seems to be plenty bright. The soft case is nice, but is a bit tight with the tripod mount attached to the scope
Don't buy the kit with the tripod. The column on this tripod is very flimsy. It's unfortunate, because the legs are study, and firm.
