Comments about Lowel O1-33 Omni Light Stand - 9' (2.7m):

I bought the stand because I tried them out at the lighting rental place and they were great. worn in these are wonderful, sturdy stands that don't take up much room. when I first open the stand I thought the pole was bent, it would hardly open. I forced it open and it ran all the way to the bottom and messed up the sticker. hence why I'm not returning this sticky thing. I lubed up all the riveted connections and it still is one of the toughest stands to open and close. my knuckles are bloody from trying to wear this thing in. To most people this won't matter but when you shoot wedding and events, myself and assistance struggle with opening and closing stands many times for quick transport, all while a small strobe and modifier rest precariously atop. I like the stand. it's made well, i think they over tightened the rivets on the lower half and It's difficult to slightly loosen them without damage. why couldn't they spend 50 cents more for some decent hardware instead of rivets? I'm going to drop $100 on a cheetah stand after i write this.

Comments about Lowel O1-33 Omni Light Stand - 9' (2.7m):

Well made stand, but a bit flimsy compared to the Lowell KS stands that I'm used to. A good addition to a kit of heavier stands.

Comments about Lowel O1-33 Omni Light Stand - 9' (2.7m):

I use this stand at weddings, specifically for shots like cutting the cake and the first dance. It is reliable and portable, two extremely important factors in weddings.
The only thing that is less than ideal is the fact that it is so lightweight that I worry about it being knocked over...feather-light is a pro and a con I guess!

Our facility uses 5 Omni/Tota kits, and it's difficult to find working Lowel stands. They are light and portable and inexpensive, but these stands just don't hold up well.

The tiny knobs hurt your fingers to operate, and most of my Omni bulb failures have happened when the riser falls down from inadequate tension.

Comments about Lowel O1-33 Omni Light Stand - 9' (2.7m):

Over the years I have bought some of the cheaper light stand out there (for some cheaper lights!). I recently bought a new lowel light and saw this stand. My old Lowel light kit is about five years old and even though the pictures looked about the same as the three I had.... this is a major improvement over my older stands. They've made these a bit more sturdy. As always (and I won't waste my money on the cheap one's again!) Lowel makes the best!

It is just not worth it to scrimp on light stands. This one is sturdy snough to support any light in my location kit and when collapsed fits into my road case. Best of all, Lowel sells repair parts to keep the stand in use for many years.
