This mat cutter is a portable jewel. I bought it to handle quick on-site mat cutting, and the space available in my travel baggage is very limited. After a few weeks' use, it has paid for itself ten times over. It is a durable heavy-duty casting, with quick-changing blades. No bells and whistles, but a professional's delight! If you use it, be sure to order spare blades.

This mat cutter is good for the money. I like the built-in marking pencil. It takes a firm hand to keep the knife pressed through the mat.
The first time I tried to use an angled mat cutter, I used a cutting mat underneath. This made a mess. The cuts were uneven, and it would tear the far side of the mat (front side).
To alleviate this problem, I use a scrap piece of mat board as a cutting surface. This makes cutting much easier and cleaner.
Perhaps the biggest downside of this model is that it does not include the clips to connect it to the Logan system rail.
