What I like: It is a very big product. I put my D70 with the 105mm attached, SB-800, 18-70, 70-300, 10-20, filters, and some other small (a lot) stuff, and my laptop with its charger; and still have unused spaces. Whatever I need to shot, I have it in there. It's a backpack to go wherever you need.

What I don't like: It is so big I am always afraid I will have problems at airplanes when trying to get it as carry on, although I NEVER had a real problem. In one trip I had to fight with the carry-on compartiment but ultimately it fit.

A problem I had is that its main buckle get broken, and B&H do not sell replacements :(. Anyway, I contacted Tamrac and they were so nice that they offered me to send me one for free, but they sent me the wrong one, and when I let them know they send me the part again, but wrong again. I still have to contact them for the third time.

Overall I am very happy with it. And this is what I will do: I will use it locally, and I will buy the Cyberpack 6 for travelling. The 6 is a little bit smaller and I am sure it will fit better on airplanes.
Anyway, Tamrac is my brand and I am not planning to replace it.

Great bag - bad backpack

I own 2 of these bags and without fail both of them had their zippers break within months of each other. The zipper doesn't lock the bag together anymore on either bag.

I own 2 of these bags and without fail both of them had their zippers break within months of each other. The zipper doesn't lock the bag together anymore on either bag.
As a bag, it fits everything you need but a backpack needs to be able to close. I'm stuck here with ~$400 in useless backpacks right now.
If that didn't happen these bags would be great but for the price and the value of their contents, Tamarac didn't put enough work into the most important part. Very disappointed

Great for carrying DSLRs - room for 2 bodies, a 300mm lens and plenty of other lenses / flash.

Good separate compartment for my 17" MacBookPro and pockets for many accessories.

Fits easily into Airline overhead lockers.

    Straps could be more comfortable.

Have used a standard backpack first, then this one in the mountains around Aspen, CO. Glad this one came in. Absolutely no comparison. Looked at other camera backpacks in stores. This one is far above the other ones. I will be using my pelican case for something else now. Completely satisfied!

Comments about Tamrac 5258 CyberPack 8 Backpack:

Sure, it might be a heavy bag for one without wheels, BUT you can carry a lot of gear safely and you need a well built bag to do the job. I have two I bought at B&H, and give one to an assistant when I travel with an assistant -- that way we have two carry ons. I use it primarily for transport and as a carry on (although I am planning on getting a rolling bag as my gear is too heavy to lift and carry through miles of terminals.)

No bag does everything. I am glad that access is not easy, as this makes the gear more secure.

For me, the purpose of this bag again, is transport. It is not a bag for shooting. I use sling bags, traditional shoulder bags and on occasion fanny bags. If a camera bag doesn't have a hip belt it is worthless. So all my bags have hip belts and packs have hip belts. A chest strap is a big plus on back pack bags.

I would like to say though, that when traveling by car, I find it convenient to store my gear close by for quick access.

Even though it is a bit cumbersome, it still gets 5 stars because of all the gear it can carry.

A great plus is that I can throw my mac book pro in here if I wish, but when I travel by air I usually carry a smaller backpack made for computers as my second personal item which includes extra clothing and electronics and toiletries.... Instead. I throw extra change light-weight clothes in the padded cyber-pouch in case of emergency.

I'm always hesitant to buy a bag without seeing it first for fear of it not being the right size. This bag is big and roomy and leaves me with a little room to add a lens or two, very happy. I have a Camera body, battery grip, flash, five lens in the bag now, storage and protection will be my main use. I will buy a smaller Tamrac for hiking.

Since I had grow out of my last storage bag it was time step it up a notch. What i like most about this bag is my lenses are able to sit vertically (its deep enough to do so) and I can easily store my 2 camera bodies. It has plenty of pouches so every item i have is now stored within it including all cables and small accessories. Sure its bulky but when you get to that point there is no way to get around it, that is if you want everything stored in one place. i give it a thumbs up.

I needed a pack to hold my camera gear as well as my computer stuff. I find this bag to be really good for it. I also like the fact it looks more like a backpack compared to other similar products.

I do admit that it is a bit large but then again I am carrying a lot of stuff. I haven't had the opportunity to fly with it yet but in a couple of weeks I should know how that is.

I also like the straps. Padded but not overly large like others. I think it should work well.

Nice bag. Holds everything I need and then some.

It can be heavy, but with all the gear it holds, its going to be. It is no trouble for me but may be for some.

Has room for all my my stuff! I carry in my pack a 5D body with a Canon 24-105 lens on it, 50mm macro lens, 16-35 f/2.8 lens, 70-200 f/2.8 lens, Canon external battery pack and exta mag, Gary Fong dome and inverted sphere, 2 580 EXII flashes, a lens hood for each lens, plus lots of odds n ends.
And it still has room for another lens.

However, finding something to carry all that stuff is gonna be big, and this bag is big and heavy without everything in it. So packed, it is close to 30lbs!

                      But well worth its "weight"!
