I use the BCR2000 with Ableton Live 7 and Reason 4. Because I can draw automations in Reason, I find the BCR most useful with Live. I use the encoder buttons to turn effects on and off in my A/B returns and the top row of 8 knobs/buttons is programmable to 4 groups so its actually 32! I use those to control my effect parameters and my crossfader. The only thing that still intimidates me is using the java-based editor, but for my purposes I don't have any need for that yet. This is everything I wanted on a control surface and more.

I'm always happy when a product designed by Behringer actually turns on. This one did, so theres one star. Price is stars number two and three.

Hassles include it's not bus powered and rather large for what it is, but it's a four or five year old design so what do you want. It's not all that portable, but construction feels alright (note: the top row of encoders feels a bit iffy).

If it lasts the year it can have a fourth star.

Great controller, unbeatable the for price. Knob feel decent and have a pretty good speed. The build quality isn't fantastic. My unit came with one knob that is a little "crunchy" but it still an awesome controller.

Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL ROTARY BCR2000 Controller Desk:

At first I was a little apprehensive to buy a Behringer product due to their reputation for making budget/cheap music gear, but after reading an article on all of the professional electronic musicians (namely Daft Punk) who use this device I figured I'd give it a try.

I use this with Ableton Live and it is absolutely perfect for it. At first glance you see 32 knobs and 16+4 on/off buttons, but this thing goes way deeper.

The top row of 8 knobs are actually also push-buttons as well, which turns that row alone into a 16 parameter control row. BUT the 4 buttons to the right of these knobs are actually pages that you can store different settings to, so this takes the row from 16 to 64 parameters controlled. Add to that the 20 on/off buttons and you're at 84. Not to mention the bulk of the machine which are the 24 rotary knobs on the lower level.

So really you have a 108 parameter controller in front of you that is super easy to assign and use. And this is just on the FIRST preset page. Talk about versatility! I was considering buying an Evolution UC33e to set next to it to control anything I couldn't fit on the BCR2000, but now that I've dug a little deeper with this machine it will be the only controller I ever use, which makes it a great mobile rig for DJing and Live PA use.

My only gripe with this is the fact that it is not bus powered and does require a power cable, but really with all the pros listed it's not something I'm too sad about. I am very happy with this piece overall. I have owned 3 other controllers for use with Ableton (Trigger Finger, Launchpad and APC40) and at this point they are all obsolete to me.

Does everything you could want it to at an excellent value. Not really any other controller like it. I only gave it 4 stars because the encoders feel a little loose. Just take it easy on the knobs and you should be ok. Built in power supply!

Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL ROTARY BCR2000 Controller Desk:

I first heard about the BCR and BCF controllers in an interview with Plastikman. I was looking for a midi controller with tons of rotary knobs, so I decided to opt for this model rather than the BCF. Also the recent Native Instruments promo video for Tim Exile's track "Youtube killed the Now Wave Star" (which features two BCR's and a BCF) sealed the deal for me.

I use the controller with FL Studio and Abelton Live. So far no problem linking it up. I am running Vista, which some of the older reviews noted was not supported. Behringer has fixed this, so if you run Vista or Windows 7, just get the updated drivers from their website.

I have pretty much only positive things to say about this device. The only complaint would be the body itself feels a little cheap, its very light etc. However that's to be expected for the price, and the important elements (Rotary Faders and on/off switches) feel great. Completely satisfied.

I used this product to control effects in Ableton Live for live DJing shows. The BCR2000 offers endless rotaries, which are great for filters, flangers, beat repeaters, etc. Additionally, the top row of encoders can be used as buttons which are great for triggering clips. The BCR2000 is also very durable. If it's good enough for the likes of Daft Punk and Breakbot, how could you go wrong?

Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL ROTARY BCR2000 Controller Desk:

Yea Behringer didn't make a driver for vista but you shouldn't be using usb as an interface since it isn't a true midi interface. A midi interface is a real connection like a physical electrical connection. Thats why a driver is required because it is emulated in software "THe Driver". I have this product and USB MIDI works but i prefer not to use it since my soundcards built in MIDI would not link up or work with this product. Again that's because USB midi isn't true MIDI... USB MIDI is the fault of whatever "Smart guy" designed the protocol. This is a GREAT product though and im completely satisfied as was worth every penny!!!!! Just don't use USB MIDI Devices.

Comments about Behringer B-CONTROL ROTARY BCR2000 Controller Desk:

I got this to control my Alesis QS6 synth and for control of my software DAW and software synths.

This works well and has different LED display options for the top eight knobs. It is easy to use and to program with and without a computer. Pretty cool looking with all the lights.

It is hard to remember what all the knobs do after you have programmed them. I need to print out some templates to over lay on top. This is a small hassle as I will have to cut out space for the knobs and buttons to fit through the paper.

Over all if you need lots of midi knobs, or USB midi knobs and a few buttons, this is a great option and you can't beat the price. If you plan to gig with it, get a good case. I am happy with mine.
