Comments about Sennheiser HD515 - Open Air Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones:
I bought these as a replacement for an old set of Sony SR-30 headphones that I had been using at work. I loved those and must've had that pair for 15 years when they finally krapt out on me.
I purchased these based on mostly positive reviews I had read. The major complaint I read in the bad reviews was that there was no bass, whereas the positive reviews seemed to say they were well balanced and just didn't have that thumpy bass that some people want (which I don't). After listening to them myself, I can say that the bass is definitely muted: quiet and vague. The midrange is very clear, and the treble is crisp, but sounds overly amplified. Overall, the sound is not as full and clear as I hoped for.
The other thing I didn't like about them is that the earpieces hinge on a thin metal pin. It looked to me as if it would be only a matter of time before some part of that hinge snapped.
Surely there must be better sounding cans for the money out there. I'm returning these and getting the Sennheiser HD555's with a FiiO E7 DAC/Amp instead.

Comments about Sennheiser HD515 - Open Air Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones:
I bought the HD515 headphones to replace some skullcandy ones that my autistic son broke after using them a lot. The ratings for these were great so I took a chance. My son really likes them. I like the fact that they are extremely comfortable and have a great sound. The only downside is that they don't insulate the sound from others hearing what is playing.

Great frequency response and extremely light and comfortable to wear. Very pleased with this choice. [...](( it was also one of the MAIN reasons I ordered from B&H, once I found out it was a product that B&H carried. ))

Comments about Sennheiser HD515 - Open Air Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones:
I just received the Sennheiser HD515. I burned-in these headphone for a couple of hours and I used classical music, audiobooks, rock music, all kinds to test them.
They really didn't need much burning though.
When I plugged them into the iPod they sounded decent, but when I plugged them into my B speakers, thats where these headphones really shined. I played some alternative songs and throughout the bass, middle, high ranges sounded superb. I don't have many headphones, but these are also really durable evn though they're plastic, but very comfortable. Sonically, they surpass my MDR V150s and cheaper Grados, in my opinion.
The way I'm using the product:
I need a decent pair of headphone, yet inexpensive to play piano for Christmas receptions and monitoring and tweaking my keyboards. Also they work well with my iPod. I think I'm getting the headphone amp specifically made for iPod Products to have better sound quality. Not that its not compatitble.
The things that are not so great:
Not much, except I'll probably look funny going to the gym, also the length of the cord is very long. Its too bad they don't have the special piece to shorten the cord. I guess I'll have to settle with twist ties.
I'll be buying the less expensive model for Christmas gifts.

Comments about Sennheiser HD515 - Open Air Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones:
Decent enough sound. The problem is the cord already shorted out with less than three months of use. It wasn't as though it got jerked out of the socket or pulled all the time, but with average computer usage it just didn't meet the basic standards of quality construction. I guess you get what you pay for.

Comments about Sennheiser HD515 - Open Air Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones:
For years I owned some relatively inexpensive Sony headphones. The sound was excellent but the set was heavy and had an annoying squeak at every movement of my head. Sennheiser, one of the most respected names in headphones, has done a great service to those consumers who are looking for a lightweight but around-the-ear phones at a relatively inexpensive price. The sound quality is excellent, even though the bass response is a bit shy to my liking. However, the fidelity to the source material is very true and detailed. I am sure that if I spent more money, the detail and bass would be clinically more amazing, but I am quite satisfied with the model I purchased. The beautiful design is a plus. I can recommend these phones to anyone, not only those on a budget.

I use it on a daily basis. It´s sound quality is perfect for my listening needs. It´s better to have music in CD quality. Low quality MP3 will have it´s noise more evident.
The biggest problem of this headphone is that the ear cushion´s foam wear out vary fast, within one or two years of use. And there is no way of replacing it, and I wasn´t able to disassemble it either.

Comments about Sennheiser HD515 - Open Air Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones:
the HD515's are great for casual listening if you want something with a better sound quality. I use them when I study and play my guitar. A headphone wasn't necessary, but I haven't tried one yet and maybe that will make them even better. They're extremely light and does not gt uncomfortable when wearing for long periods of time.
