I use this in a Photoflex softbox with the Photoflex speed ring. Works good except BE SURE TO OPEN THE BARN DOORS ALL THE WAY. If you don't, it will heat up and start warping the housing. Also, it is difficult to get the power connector plugged in because it's too close to the speed ring. That is a Photoflex issue, not Lowel. This light is also good for general bounce off a ceiling/wall, etc. Only negative is that the aluminum mount inside that holds the bulb could be a little heavier, as it tends to spread with the heat and pressure of the bulb pushing outward.

The main thing is this -- for a few cents less you can find the same setup here at B&H WITH the bulb ... there is an extra L at the end of that model name. Get that one! Don't make the mistake I did. This is the only reason I would not recommend this to a friend, or not give it 5 stars -- it does not have the bulb -- you can order it with the bulb and essentially get an extra bulb free even if you already have bulbs.

I just recently started a food blog and bought this light. I love it. Perfect amount of light and just shoot through a screen with translucent fabric for diffused light on the plate. Works great just don't leave unattended as it gets hot.

Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
This light as been a goto fill light for me for awhile. (while using the reflective umbrella) I love it but just don't leave it unattended. If you know what you are doing it shouldn't be a problem but I've seen rookies cook all sorts of things with this light. Don't let that simple fact detour you from a great light. Just remember that it runs hot.

I am an illustrator, and the better my reference the better the finished piece. I bought this light to use in my studio and I absolutely love the results that I have gotten from this light. I think that this piece is extremely user friendly and I have bragged about the results to many of my fellows artists. I will definitely buy more from Tota for my lighting needs.

Use two to evenly light your green screen or digitally reproduce old photographs. Use one off the white ceiling to up the light level of your work space. Shoot it threw a soft box or silk and frame for a super soft key.

I've used this for interviews and other indoor uses but purchased it for use on location for short films. It gets hot so be careful!
I've been using a 750W lamp which came with it but, will switch to my 500W when I conduct interviews. It's also great for bouncing off the ceiling and behind you to raise ambient light in a room also.

I love this light, when used in threes it gives off enough light to light an interview ... at the same time, it's easy to pack and bring to remote locations.
Comments about Lowel Tota-Light Tungsten Flood Light (120-240VAC):
Small, different wattage bulbs (300-500-750w), inexpensive. To be used bounced or in a softbox. Gelling the light is clumsy at best (must work with a frame - lot of spill). Great to raise the ambient ligth level. Not the most versatile fixture but has is place in any light kit.

Great light, depending on the lamp you use. I recomend 750 watts instead of 500 or 1000 watts, unless you need a lot oa light, then go for 1000 watts lamps. Can use an umbrella, Durable, easy to turn on/off. Cools very quickly.
