These are extremely useful items, we have a whole arsenal of them, used for holding microphones, antennas and even mini cameras, we would suffer without them!!

Comments about Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm without Camera Bracket:

Just got this arm and it was just in time. Had a shoot that that I had a balcony shot. Most of the time I would use a tripod for this shot, not this time with the Super Clamp and Camera Platform I added to the Magic Arm, it allowed me to clamp to the railing and get a nice steady locked down shot with my Sony NX5U.

I have used this combination in the past with hanging lights and cameras from difficult spots that a tripod or light stand just wouldn't work. This has been a great addition to my camera kit.

I'm looking forward to using this with many of my future shoots.

Comments about Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm without Camera Bracket:

I was pretty impressed with this thing right out of the box. The whole arm is movable and twistable when it's unlocked. You can adjust the arm angle, and the ends too. Then you use the locking lever and the whole thing turns rigid. It wasn't until I was in a pinch to attach something with a 3/8in male stud when I realized that one end has 1/4 female and the other is 3/8 female and I was blown away. Sounds silly maybe but I was so happy they had though this out so well. So far I've used to to attach a video camera to a bike and a kayak. Both worked out better than I could have imagined. Say what you will about Bogen stuff, but this one is a winner.

Comments about Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm without Camera Bracket:

I always cary two or three of these in my grip bag. I use them for flags, gobos, small flashes, diffusers and reflectors. They make stands out of doors, chairs, shelves, pipes, just about anything you can clamp them to.

Mate them with super clamps and studs and position a light just about anywhere you need it or use it when a stand just won't fit. I've even mounted strobes to these with a small softbox or an umbrella.

          Wouldn't leave home without it.

Comments about Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm without Camera Bracket:

While excellent for coarse placement of lights and/or cameras, the lock lever requires considerable force to operate, and the act of locking the arm sends a considerable shock through the arm, making precision positioning impossible. For more precise placement, consider using the variable friction arm, which functions more like a typical ball head.

Comments about Manfrotto 143N Magic Arm without Camera Bracket:

I have eleven (11) of these puppies which I use liberally about my studio. Each holds a light of one type or another, and each is rooted into a Manfrotto Super Clamp.

Ever hear of a 'sky hook'? Well, this is as close as you are ever going to get to having one. As it wears, it is adjustable so as to keep that new tight factory feeling.

Use it with super clamps, or a camera platform.
Used it to secure a microphone, walkie talkies, cameras, ballheads, strobe heads, camera platforms, video cameras, tripod support, computer support, just about anything. I own three in my kit. Great to mount flashes out of reach without stands. Recommend for any still lifer, location photographer, and grip.
