Kenko MD205S 2.0x Telephoto & 0.5x Wide Angle Lens Kit
The two-lens set from Kenko is made up of the MD-05W, a 0.5x wide-angle lens and MD-20T, a 2.0x telephoto lens. The two lenses have a 37 mm mount thread and also contain step rings for 30.5 mm and 30 mm to mount on many Mini DV camcorders from Canon and Sony and other manufacturers. These lenses have silver finished aluminum barrels and high quality glass optics that are coated to guard against reflections and flare.
This set should be of special interest to first time Mini-DV camcorder buyers because the wide-angle lens allows you to double, get twice as much in the picture, the camera's original wide angle ability. The telephoto lens makes it possible to get twice as close to a subject without having to use the camera's Digital Zoom feature. The Digital Zoom increases magnification by increasing the size of each pixel in the frame, creating a pixilated image that is far less sharp than the optical zoom.

First I'll say that I only use the wide angle converter lens with an HF100. I've never needed, nor used the telephoto adapter so this review is strictly based on the wide angle adapter. It does improve the usability of the camera in close quarters particularly indoors and the light loss seems to be minimal. That's the good part.
The bad is that at full wide angle the barrel of the adapter is visible in recorded images and well before you reach the full telephoto end of the zoom range it degrades into a hazy blur.
It's okay given the low price, but it is frustrating to have to avoid full wide angle shooting to keep this adapter from showing up in the video since that is really the main purpose of this adapter. I can forgive the telephoto performance since it really shouldn't be used for that purpose anyway.

The wide angle give that really good look for sports and environment shots. The telephoto lens however has too small a diameter for my 37mm lens. You can see a ring which is something I'm not looking for, but for the most part I am really satisfied and with the results. You can zoom in about 10x until it becomes hard to focus.
