Comments about Acratech Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Nikon D3 & D100 with MB-D100 Grip:
Bought this to use with an Arca-style head as a conversion from the Manfrotto QR technology I've used for years, and bought this model to go along with a head and L-bracket. Immediately happy that the curved front eliminates a problem I've had for years with my Manfrotto QR plates -- twist. The low profile and smooth edges also means I don't have to remove this plate when wrapping the body and returning it in my camera case, and the light weight means I don't care about leaving it on even when handholding the camera or using a lens-based mount.
Apparently the manufacturer has had some customers with bad screw thread experiences, because they mention in multiple places in the pamphlet to stop and call if the screw used to mount the plate to the tripod hole in the camera body seems to resist or become misaligned. I shudder to think of a screw coming off. They also caution against over-tightening, so I think it would be worthwhile considering applying a liquid friction enhancer like Loctite if you plan to just leave this on your camera permanently, to minimize the chance of a screw working loose.

Used with Nikon D300 with MB-D10 battery pack. It locks the camera in tight to the Acrtech GV2 Ballhead. The lip in the back prevents the camera from moving as the camera is shifted from Portrait to Landscape orientation.
