Open End Frames are made of spring steel with a 3/8" pin and support which can be used to hang the Scrim from the C Stand handle when not in use.
The two upright arms of the frame are slotted at the two open ends to retain the piano wire woven through the fabric to make up the fourth side of the frame without causing a shadow.
Open Ends are used to control or manipulate light falling on certain areas of the set or subject. They can be used to soften or reduce light without a noticeable edge. A color coded binding is used around the frame to identify the fabric.
Open End Frames are black powder coated to minimize unwanted reflections.

Comments about Matthews Open End Scrim - 24x36" - White Artificial:
When bouncing light or using a soft-box isn't an option, this silk will turn any tungsten/open-face light into a soft source. The frame is welded with precision to uphold the test of time and usage, and the silk is finely woven to provide a nice warm and flattering effect on whatever is being lit.
Bottom line: The perfect tool for turning an other-wise harsh light into a soft light.

Comments about Matthews Open End Scrim - 24x36" - White Artificial:
I bought Matthews' whole set of scrims and flag, they rock. They're tough and they work great if you want full control over your lights. You'll need a bunch of c-stands, though.

Comments about Matthews Open End Scrim - 24x36" - White Artificial:
Great for softening light off of a 7-10 reflector, but overall softboxes are better suited for this size if you are in still photography especially.
They are also much more fragile than a soft box and should be handled with care.
