Compatible with any "Arca-Swiss" type quick release system (e.g. Arca-Swiss, Foba, Graff, Wimberley, etc.). Precision machined from T-6 aluminum, these high-quality plates feature a satin black anodized finish, and are "made in the USA".
This "Universal" plate feature an anti-rotation lip just like the camera specific plates, and will accept cameras with 1/4"-20 tripod thread.

The unit works as described, but having to use a hex wrench to mount it is a pain. There seems to be no reason to have such a mechanism than to shorten an overly large vertical requirement by a couple of millimeters. This appears to be shortsightedness on behalf of the design engineers to have elected for user inconvenience so as to minimize the height of the ball apparatus that it mounts to. Since I like to have a hand strap mounted to the camera for ease of carrying a large, modern, weighty SLR, I'm forced to forgo the convenience of the hand strap in order to have the attachment plate available.

Perfect addition to the Acratech ballhead. I use these smaller plates with smaller lenses and they ensure a secure fit as well as easy removal.

Comments about Acratech Universal Quick Release Plate with Cork Top - 1/4"-20:
Attaches very securely to my camera with the included Allen wrench. I like using the Allen wrench so the plate is very securely attached to the camera and I do not worry about it falling off my ballhead. I only use this plate when shooting with smaller lenses, since I use a plate attached to the lens collar with larger lenses. I leave the plate on the camera when shooting without a tripod or when using the lens collar attached to the ballhead for larger lenses so I never lose it or have to worry about attaching it when I am out hiking with my gear. The plate does what it is supposed to do and does it well.
I decided to get the universal plate instead of a plate designed for my camera because I plan on upgrading my camera relatively soon and did not want a plate that would be incompatible with my potential new camera. In the future I would likely get a the specific plate for my camera, but this plate has worked perfectly for me.

Comments about Acratech Universal Quick Release Plate with Cork Top - 1/4"-20:
The quick release plate is good, but who wants to carry around an Allen wrench to fasten or remove the plate to a camera? The best plates are some produced by Gitzo that have a tightening ring as an integral part of the plate and one doesn't need any special tools. I am surprised that for an expensice ballhead/Quick Release Plate combo
Acratech didn't think of it.

I use this on my PentaconSix to mount on Acratech ballhead.
It works as it should without any problems. The cork surface holds up while tightening the screw so that the plate doesn't rotate as you put it on the camera.

Bought to use on a D80 with a Markins Ball head. Didn't want to buy a camera specific plate because I want to upgrade my digital body soon and have flexibility with my film body. This works as expected.
Only wish it had a straight edge screw fitting instead of an allen? wrench.

I bought this plate to use on a spotting scope as my tripod set up was the acra-swiss type. It works great so far, no complaints.
