The Pentax smc P-DA 14mm F2.8 ED (IF) is designed to be used with digital SLR cameras. It incorporates a high-refraction extra low dispersion (ED) glass element to produce a high-resolution, high-contrast image with true-to-life color rendition, and features an Internal Focus system to make focusing smoother and faster.
Like all Pentax lenses, this lens is treated with smc coating for maximum light transmission, sharp definition, and high contrast images.
Note! Not suitable for 35mm film SLR cameras.

Comments about Pentax Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 14mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
I use this lens for nature photography. The focus can be done very close to the object. Allows, for example, shooting a flower and still show the environment where it occurs.

STUNNING IMAGES FOR LANDSCAPES/INDOOR INTERIORS...I GAVE IT A 4 STAR CAUSE I HAVE USED IT FOR INDOOR CONCERTS AND ALTHOUGH THE 14M PERSPECTIVE IS AWESOME, THE 2.8 IS NOT TACK SHARP LIKE ALL PRIMES SHOULD BE...YES SOFT BUT IMAGES STILL HAVE A BEAUTIFUL ARTISTIC LOOK AT WIDE OPEN 2.8 SETTING....ALL IN ALL THIS LENSE DELIVERS BEAUTIFUL EXPOSURES IF YOU KNOW HOW TO USE YOUR CAMARA!!!

A really wonderful wide angle lens that I use for landscape photography. A fast lens with great field of view and little discernable distortion

Comments about Pentax Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 14mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
I've used it for landscapes and group portraits.
It enables me to work in tight areas that would make good photographs impossible with other lenses. It's sharp enough for me, even wide open, but of course it could be sharper at f2.8.

Comments about Pentax Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 14mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
This is one of my most used lenses for landscape and it is a gem. It is sharp, has excellent contrast and colour rendition, nice bokeh and very little distortions. Some of my best photos were taken with this lens.

Comments about Pentax Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 14mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
This is an awesome lens. It is built very well with lots of metal so it's heavier than one might think. Distortion is very well controlled for such a wide lens. It is a little soft at f/2.8, but not so much that it's a deal breaker. All in all, a great lens and a good buy.

Comments about Pentax Super Wide Angle SMCP-DA 14mm f/2.8 Autofocus Lens:
Since it is a prime lens, I expected stellar performance. It didn't quite measure up. Wide open, it is very soft. If you are going to take group portraits of elderly women, then this is your lens. Otherwise, prepare to stop down to f/5.6 before you get usable results.
From f/8 to f/11 the lens sparkles. The images need very little if any PP work. Beautiful contrast, sharpness, and saturation.
Unfortunately, unless you need f/2.8 you will be much better off with the Sigma 10-20mm or the Pentax 12-24mm.
