I've had the Pelican 1510 case for a few years now. It's designed specifically for airline carry-on, has wheels for easy transport, you can throw it in the ocean, or down a flight of stairs fully loaded and will have no damage to the contents! The pick-and-pluck foam is a genius idea - allows for complete customization of the case and it's contents, is very lightweight and holds all my equipment snuggly in place. I just re-ordered new foam after nearly 4 years on the original foam. I will be travelling to the Ukraine next week, and will be able to keep all my photo equipment with me as carry-on, and in the worst case scenario, feel fairly confident that if I need to check it, it will survive whatever the baggage handlers throw at it.

Good quality but it just doesn't hold up if you make anything with a shape other than a simple rectangle - because you're working with two main pieces of foam, the top one tends to come up with the "camera" or whatever you're removing from the case - which is annoying, and the shapes you cut out will have a "shelf life." It'll eventually shed a few cubes that you didn't want it to ... it just makes you really want a more custom cut solution .. or a bag like a Porta Brace bag, which is what I'd probably go with next time around ...

This fits perfectly and got to me very fast. I work over seas and I converted my carry on version for a portable entertainment system. I kept the lid system to hold my laptop and accessories. the foam holds my 4tb WD hard drive, bose computermonitor speakers, micro projector and other perifirals for a small portable theater system. This allows me to watch movies in the most remote places of the earth and keep my stuff safe.

Used it to replace the carry on inserts.
Good instructions, easy to set up. Used it for Camera, 3 lenses, and various other accessories including laptop, etc.
The only minor thing wrong is the case has wheel and handle cutouts on the bottom but the foam has to be cut to fit.

great product, i recently sold a medium format outfit and it's great to be able to simply replace the foam and start over in a different format. pelican products are difficult to improve on. i have never experienced any damage to any products protected by pelican cases.

I love Pelican cases, and trust them to protect my video equipment. However, I bought this set of foam to fill a carry-on bag I bought to store my camera gear in. A few quick cuts, and the foam perfectly fit the interior of the bag, which rolls, has lots of pockets, and doubles as a backpack--all for MUCH less than a Pelican case.
The foam protects the gear so well, I have little worry about damage, and the carry-on attracts much less attention from thieves.
