When a lighting fixture needs to be 12 inches higher, this stand extension can be added to the top of a stand or Baby Plate that has a 5/8 in top stud.

I use this on top of a 8 foot Smith-Victor RS8 Raven light stand and attached to a Smith-Victor MB-110 MINI-BOOM for holding a backlight slave strobe. This unit is very well made and the set screw runs velvet smooth. Excellent machining. I did however have to grind down the diameter of the knurled collar atop my lightstand a bit as the throat of the stem reciever is extraordinarily deep. But that extra depth also enhances its extraordinary sturdiness.
