Comments about Matthews Baby Boom:
Researched boom setups extensively and settled on this one. Couldn't have been more happy with my choice.
I needed to hang a Mathews Magic finger, Elinchrom Quadra and a Beauty dish or 53" Octa box. Wanted something that would not bend in the arm or not be finicky to adjust in the field. This Boom arm is so good that I have no issues using it both in studio and on-location.
The boom can easily hold the above setup at any angle or extension. Coupled with a steel Avenger Stand I have no need for a counterweight, even in the field. I still sandbag the base of the stand.
This is a great boom, rock solid, and easy to adjust. It should have a lifetime of decades. It is heavy, but worth every penny.
