Comments about Interfit DigiLite Fluorescent 2 Light Kit:
This is a good product if you like diffused even unwavering cool light. They have built-in dimmers and can be used effectively for portrait work or product photography. The light they produce is very natural. I like using them but wish that they were supported by the manufacturer and that the lamps could be replaced easily by the photographer.
Unfortunately, if the lamps need to be replaced or you need the units serviced. good luck. I like these lighting units alot but I dread the day that they malfunction, since the only person that I was told could service them (in NYC) left the repair shop that he worked in and no one knows of another or where this guy is now.

Comments about Interfit DigiLite Fluorescent 2 Light Kit:
I needed compact portable soft lights at a reasonable price. On paper these fill the bill but it turns out that they have two fatal flaws.
The first is that the output is extremely low- each is about the same as a 75 watt incandescent light bulb. This is largely due to the thick plastic cover over the bulbs that really cuts down the output. The cover has a cross-hatched pattern that at first seems to be similar to an egg crate but turns out to be just drawn on the plastic.
The second and worst flaw is that the tubes are not user replaceable. They are an unusual design that Interfit does not sell replacements for and I cannot find in any catalog. Worse, the are soldered in- if you are careful and brave you might have a try but this is not an operation for the field.

Merchant response: The "cross-hatched pattern" contributes to the light's overall Soft, uniform, diffused quality. Each head contains 6- 24 watt tubes.
