The Paterson Background Support System consists of two folding upright stands that can rise to a height of 8.5', a crossbar that can expand to a width of 10.3', and a travel case with handle.
It is ideal for the photographer on the go. It is lightweight and compact -- closes down to less than 44 inches.
The Support System is designed to safely support 9' wide rolls of seamless paper, and cloth backgrounds as heavy as muslin.
For extra safety -- weight, or sandbags are available as accessories to secure the setup around active children.
And don't forget a clamp or two, to secure your roll of paper, or to drape your cloth background more creatively.

This setup is a great value. The stands and the crossbar are beefier than I expected. The bases of the stands can be spread very wide, making the whole setup very stable. The crossbar comes in three sections, but you can omit one of the sections if you're in a narrow space. The sections lock securely with a small allen wrench (included in the kit), so there is no chance of them coming apart during your shoot. The softcase seems durable and well designed; it even has a small pocket for accessories. As others have mentioned, the tension joints in the stands are made of plastic. It seems like fairly tough plastic (doesn't look or feel cheap), but don't over-tighten them.

Problems Encountered: On my third shoot using this system, the tension plate for one of the stands cracked. I was too booked to send it back in a reasonable amount of time, so I'm now forced to hold it together w/ a spring clamp.

Way better than I expected. Even a little on the big side. Very portable.

Comments about Interfit Background Support System:
This is my first background frame, and I'm very pleased with it, most notably because it is as sturdy as I need and was affordable.
The system did not come with ANY instructions, but it was pretty easy to figure out how it went together. There are two folding upright stands and the crossbar is made of three bars that fit together, so you can have it as wide as a little over 10', or as little as a third of that.
I wasn't sure the crossbar was going to hold the 10' wide paper rolls I purchased, as it bowed a bit in the middle (the metal tubes you fit together are hollow), but the paper rolls themselves are on a thick tube, so it's been no problem.
It's easy to raise and lower the side stands to take off or put on a new roll of paper, and even though I haven't put any sandbags on the legs of the stands yet, I'm not finding it to be particularly tippy. If you had kids running around or were outside, however, you'd definitely want to sandbag the legs.

Lightweight, great for location work and enough space in the case to store a small muslin and extras for the shoot. Needed a second stand and this works for all events!!

I use the product for backgrounds and love it. I already had one set but wanted another so I could configure longer background and if I wanted to configure multiple sides to a photo shoot. I do portraiture and product shots.
Fast & easy to set up and I love the bag it comes in. There are no drawbacks in my experience with this product.

Comments about Interfit Background Support System:
I basically bought this product because, I am just starting in Studio Photography. The thing that I like about it is that it serves the purpose and provides the perfect background drop. The problem I have is that it is a little to cumbersome for me because I am physically challenged. Other than having to use a few extra minutes to assemble and disassemble, it perfect.

I use these for my photography business. They are sturdy but not too heavy to carry around. They go up easily.
The only thing I dislike is the cross bar requires you to screw the pieces together.(with the provided alum wrench) it's not that big of deal, it doesn't take too long, but it's just one more step when you're trying to set up!

Comments about Interfit Background Support System:
Any stand or tripod with plastic hardware can crack. Just keep this in mind and don't overtighten. The crossbar also should not be overtightened.
That said, this is a pretty good system. You'll want to weigh down the legs if you're using a heavy roll at full extension, but the legs have a fairly broad base, and everything is acceptably sturdy.
If you own any of the stands that Interfit or Paul C Buff rebrands, this kit has the wide base, non-air-cushioned version of those, with a special pin on the head for the crossbar.

Comments about Interfit Background Support System:
I bought this kit after trying the lesser priced kit. Get this kit! It is sturdy, high, and easily setup and taken down.
My only suggestion is to invest in a telescoping bar. This kit comes with a 3-section bar that sags a little. I guess they all do.
Comments about Interfit Background Support System:
I own two of these sets. They are cheap which makes themeasy to replace if they break. I really like the bag thatcomes with it. Do not tighten the stands too much or theywill crack. I have broken two stands and had to replace themwith more heavy duty stands. The crossbar is a decentcrossbar, and having two sets I can combine the crossbarstogether for use with my 16x24 background. I will probablypurchase another one of these sets in the next couple ofmonths. This background support system will work for anyonethat is not shooting every day on location. If you areshooting on location every day I would suggest buyingsomething a little more heavy duty.
