The Switronix NP-50 is a 13.2v, NP-style Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) battery. The NP-50 offers a current NP-style NiCd user an inexpensive way to upgrade to a newer battery technology.
- NIMH - Environmentally Safe
- Nickel Metal Hydride cells are essentially an extension of the prooven sealed Nickel-Cadmium (NiCd) cell technology with the substitution of a hydrogen absorbing negative electrode for the cadmium based electrode. This substitution increases cell capacity and eliminates the toxicity concerns that cadmium based cells produce.

I have several cameras and I have all NP style battery hook-ups. I can almost do a whole Wedding and Reception on one pair of batteries. I have my main cameras with double battery packs and with 2 bateries I don't worry about how much time do I have left before I have to swap for another set.

Never had a problem with these batteries, very consistent, and long lasting. I would give 5 stars if the built in charge meter was accurate during use. Both of my battery meters would deplete to show 1 light left on the meter, however the batteries would last for much, much longer. Following the meter had me changing out the battery hours earlier than needed.

As a long time user of NP-1 style pro-camera batteries, I was used to expecting around 90 minutes of power from NP-1 Ni-Cd batteries. I thought I would try the Switronix NI-MH and I was blown away by the seemingly endless power this battery produces, approx. 4 hours. The LED charge meters are also very useful for checking remaining charge.
