Meade's 8" LXD75 Schmidt-Cassegrain features a strong, motorized German-type equatorial mount with nine movement speeds, as well as a 2.00" focuser to accept 2.00" diagonals, prisms and eyepieces. Having a 2.00" focuser greatly adds to the versatility of the viewing experience.

The Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope design has gained the lion's share of the astronomy market for logical reasons. It is a design which provides a great combination of optical excellence and light gathering per dollar, in a size that's very tolerable when considered in comparison to other telescope designs with identical apertures. It does not suffer from a narrow useable viewing field like a Newtonian reflector, and they are not impossibly large like a huge refractor.
