Meade's LXD75 5" classic high-quality refractor design features a strong, motorized German-type equatorial mount with nine movement speeds, as well as a 2.00" focuser to accept 2.00" diagonals, prisms and eyepieces. Having a 2.00" focuser greatly adds to the versatility of the viewing experience.
Many feel that refractors provide astronomy's best imagery, bending light just once so that less optical degradation occurs. They give great contrast and require very low maintenence, but are larger and heavier aperture-for-aperture as compared to Schmidt-Cassegrains and are more expensive aperture-for-aperture as compared to Newtonian reflectors.
