You can now get quality softbox lighting from your battery portable flash system. This 812315 19 inch octagonal softbox has a silver interior and removable front diffuser. Designed for Norman LH2 and LH52 portable heads, the OSB19-BP can also be used on most Quantum Q Flash and Lumedyne lampheads.
No speed ring adapter is required for Norman, Quantum or Lumedyne heads. Each Softbox attaches to the lamphead like a standard reflector. On Norman lampheads, just position over the flashtube and tighten the reflector locking screw. Speed ring adapters may be purchased for other flash heads.

I use this on my Lumedyne flash head for location fashion work for fill and if indoors, for some diffused "kick".
The best part about this is that it opens like an umbrella and it clicks into place. The mounting adapter fits directly into the Lumedyne head, there is no need for a speed ring. The light quality is diffused and even across its surface.
That said, obviously it is still a rather small light source and it is not going to give the soft/diffused light that a large regular box would produce, but for the purpose I mentioned, it has everything right. My only complaint is the velcro based front diffuser. That, invariably, will wear out for heavy professional use.

Use on Quantum QFlash
I put this on my Quantum Qflash, works well but one annoying thing is the Softbox comes loose after some time. The screw on the Quantum Qflash coudn't get tight enough grip.

I use this with my Norman 200C and 400B which accept the LH2 & LH52K lampheads respectively. These little softboxes are great for accent lights/hair light and for fill flash outdoors. They can also work for individual or couple portraits, but I recommend adding additional diffusion material to the front panel, to further soften the light and avoid hotspots. Rosco offers diffusion sheets that you can cut and stick in front with tape or with velcro for added diffusion. All in all, this softbox is very convenient for on-location photography, plus it is well made and relatively cheap. There is a square model around the same side, but I like the semi-round catch lights this model produces.

I use this softbox on location shoot with the Quantum Qflash and it gives very pleasant quality of light. Not too soft not too harsh, just right.

I use this Octo with all my Q Flash series. It is very easy and fast to setup (20 Seconds), and you have a great soft light with fantastic catch-light.
It is simple to use and gives a nice spread of light no matter the application. I hope to see one size larger.

Comments about 812315 Octagonal Softbox for Norman 2-Series:
Paired with a bogen mini boom and the Quantum Qflash model 36T flash head extension, this product makes easy work of table top product photography. The removable white insert is ideal for diffused light for portraits of one to four people. Removing the insert produces great, hard and high contrast light in a small and efficient package for product photography. A removable grid insert would make this tool useful in a wider variety of uses.

I use this box with my Quantum T5D and absolutely love the results. It's perfect for locations, disassembles in a matter of seconds and is very lightweight. I've already recommended this to a few of my photog friends.

I use this softbox on my QFlash. It sets up very quickly (like an umbrella)and attaches to the QFlash easily. Its performance is like any other high quality softbox. Don't expect the results of a 72 inch Octa in a 19 inch package, but for the size and price, it's a very good product.
