Comments about Norman 812262 Reflector Mounting Arm With Stand:
I'm a semi-pro photographer, fresh out of college and starting to buy my own gear. This stand and arm are decent for the price. I have a 40" reflector and the stand does hold it at multiple angles--it does hold but I wish it were sturdier. The clips on the boom arm that attach to the reflector are my biggest concern, they are not very strong and do not attach very firmly to the disk. But I think that I could replace them with different clips from the hardware store.
Note: the mounting arm and stand do not come attached, and there are no instructions. To attach the arm to the stand, you have to pull the black "plug" off the top of the stand, then you can screw the arm onto the stand.

Use ti hold reflectors. Works great outside as long as there is no wind. Gat some sandbags for outdoor use, the wind will carry it far far away.

Comments about Norman 812262 Reflector Mounting Arm With Stand:
It holds my reflectors just fine with no balance issues. My largest reflector is 42" and I have to turn one leg in the same direction the reflector is pointing to ensure stability when using it. But that's not really an issue, just a consideration. That's indoors, anyway. If used outdoors, be ready with a sandbag.
The one thing I'd nitpick on is the dull silver color. I'd have preferred black.

Comments about Norman 812262 Reflector Mounting Arm With Stand:
I bought this stand and arm to replace a similar product I purchased that was defective.
The stand supplied with in this kit is everything you could want in a stand. It's stable, tall and air-cushioned... well built and secure.
The arm is very simple to use and everything I was looking for in a reflector holder.
Pluses and minuses:
The arm is very light and extends to hold large reflectors but will not collapse down small enough to hold a 12" reflector. Not a big issue for me.
The reflector clips are easy to use but may not be strong enough to hold a very large reflector in windy conditions. Again, not a big issue for me.
The attaching and locking point for the arm consists of a 1/4-20 stainless steel stud that appears marginal. I think it is stronger than it looks and some may feel as if it is a weak point in the arm. Only time will tell. Suffice to say I am satisfied with its design and in its first outing was more than sufficient.
The arm is a joy to use because of its ease-of-use design. Positioning of reflectors is quick and easy.
As with any stand and reflector your application may require the use of a weight device. This would be true of any stand and holder. Positioning the reflector over one of the legs was adequate for me.
