Comments about Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF:
This lens is very nice. At 2.8 it is a little soft but at anything higher it's awesome! Its fast. It's solid. I have only shot about 100 pics since I got it but so far I am quite pleased.

Comments about Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF:
This is an excellent lens and has become my favorite all-around shooter. I keep it mounted to my 7D at all times unless the shot calls for something else specific. Shots are sharp and build is great. Others find this lens to be heavy however I have always loved the weight and feel of my Sigma lenses. The 2.8 through helps in lower light situations and the versatile 24-70mm is perfect if you need to pull your camera out and grab a shot FAST. The Sigma 24-70 also has a very quick and accurate focus. Smooth and quiet. The only negative thing I can say about this lens is that the zoom seems to be tighter close to the 70mm end. May be something that will smooth over use. If you're looking for a great affordable all around zoom, look no further. Buy this lens.

Comments about Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF:
I am very pleased with this lens. I have it attached to my Pentax K20D, and don't see it coming off anytime soon. This lens produces consistently sharp pictures throughout the range (slightly soft wide open, but not enough to really mention). The lens also produces nice vibrant color with a nice level of contrast.
The size of this thing is somewhat of a shocker. It is big and it is heavy. I love the build.
I do notice that the zoom action get somewhat stiff at around 28mm as mention by some other reviews I have come across, but not to the point that I feel it needs to be sent in for repair.
My biggest and really only complaint is the mammoth 82mm filter size. Not at all common, and very expensive. Chances are you won't have any other lenses that the filters will fit.

Comments about Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF:
I have had this lens for about 2 months now.
So far i'm pretty happy with it. I use it mostly for snowboard photography and for general use. I wish it were a little sharper though. Once you get the focus right its pretty good. But i've had some problems with the AF. Overall i think it's a good lens for the price.
Comments about Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF:
Great lens! This is a definite keeper. Really sharp at F8. Perfect focal length.
The 82mm thread is just for the thread mainly. The actual glass between the thread is no that big, definitely NOT 82mm worth of glass. The glass is about the same diameter as the Sigma 18-50 f2.8 lens.
The lens is big but not that heavy. Good minimum focusing distance. Now here is the truth on the zoom ring issue:
Is it stiff? Yes. Coming back from 24mm going back toward 70, it gets stiff around 33mm or so. But so does the Tamron 28-75.
The zoom ring is also a little awkwardly placed. The manual focus ring is larger and intuitively, you'll grab that thinking it's the zoom ring but it's not. The zoom ring is further behind and it's very close to the lens mount. A little awkward to grab underhanded, with your fingers on the bottom of the lens but it's doable. I zoom overhanded with my four fingers from the top of the lens instead.
Those quirks aside, it's really nice glass. Price is nice for what you get. Focal length can be used for a lot of things. Don't want to take a star away from it because of the odd zoom ring quirks but they're there and you'll find out. You'll get used to them though. Good buy! It's really a 5 star lens in disguise.

Comments about Sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 EX DG Macro DF Autofocus Lens for Pentax AF:
This is a nice lens to use but does require a learning curve to discover the best aperture for the best result. I found f9 works best and provides the sharpest images but the down side is the weight when its hand held with a slower shutter. Even with shake reduction, how you hold the camera is critical to a good image. Overall, the Sigma is a good lens and I am happy with the range and results I am getting. Found it useful with a external flash at a recent wedding for wider shots and portraits as well. Again, this requires a steep learning curve to get the best out of the lens.
