Comments about Whirlwind IMPAD20 - In-Line XLR Barrel 20 dB Pad:
I typically need this for DI from a bass into a recording preamp where the signal was too hot. It seems as if either the signal was so hot to begin with that the pad was overloaded, or that the pad adds a bit of distortion itself, since the recording was less than perfect. It could have been the nature of the amp as well, so I am not too quick to blame the pad. Regardless, it DID give a signal that did not clip my meters, which was probably a welcome relief for my input. BUT, I would only use it for signals that clip even with zero gain, otherwise you will be adding unnecessary software digital later, likely resulting in fuzz. It basically works. Very light.
