I come from a polar opposite photography interest to a wide-angle, which is macro photography, and so when I first bought the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM lens I didn't use it much. What a mistake!
As might be expected, the 10-22 is a fantastic landscape tool and I have taken many stunning photos of the Florida beaches with it, and the colors and clarity brought out by this lens are fantastic.
What is not so obvious about this lens are its many other capabilities, for instance macro work. I have the Canon 50D and my primary tool is the 100mm macro lens, but I find myself using the 10-22mm super-wide more and more. If you get the lens extension tubes you can capture wide-angle macro shots, enabling you to capture a whole leaf or bug at a super-close distance! Even without the tubes, I photograph flowers a lot, but with a true 100 macro I can only get so much of the flower or bush in my field of view, without standing back ten to fifteen feet. Normally, this is what I want in a flower shot, very close and very sharp, yet sometimes it is important to photograph the entire plant for field ID. Well, with the EF-S 10-22mm lens, I can go right up to within inches of the flower and yet get the entire flower captured, plus the stem and leaves, which is great for field identification purposes. The exceptional depth of field generated by this lens also provides a great opportunity for creativity. I can lie on the ground and take a side-flower shot which not only shows the whole flower ... but also provides a full perspective of the surrounding grass, the comparative massiveness of the trees, and so provides a full background to create a whole different "feel" to the photo than a simple macro shot of a flower.
So, yeah, this is a great lens for landscape and seascape shots ... but it is also an extremely versatile lens for much more than that ... if you start thinking about its potential. Get your 'creative juices' flowing and enjoy it :)

This lens is so much fun! I'm not used to the wide angle yet, and usually shoot macro, but this lens opens up a new path for expanding my photography and seeing things differently. It is extremely sharp and easy to use.

I have wanted a wide angle lens for a long while for my Rebel xsi and finally took the plunge when it went on sale. I've only had it for a couple of weeks but am impressed. It is fantastic in low light and indoor shots and landscapes. Looking forward to using it for upcoming trips.

Comments about Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Autofocus Lens:
I had been using a Sigma 12-24mm, but all of the shots I took were unacceptably blurry. I finally caved in and spent the money for the Canon 10-22mm.
A great decision. Like night and day... this lens is well made, but much lighter than the Sigma. ALL of my shots have come out great. The difference in sharpness is immediately apparent and significant.
Great color and contrast. A huge improvement over the 12-24mm.
There are some curvilinear effects/distortion at the 10mm setting (super wide-angle corner stretching), but even that is acceptable when the picture quality is this good.
I liked it so well, I bought one for my wife to compliment her 28-105mm.

I shoot lots of kids in groups. It is a great lens to capture their antics, because kids don't bunch well together. I can angle myself with the camera and still take shots of the kids being themselves.

Comments about Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Autofocus Lens:
I love this lens. I haven't had it for long, but from what I've seen from the pictures so far, it's a great lens. I use it mostly for photography around the city, landscape, and self-portraits.
The great things about this lens:
-All the pictures come out really sharp, and are great quality.
-It's great for small spaces.
-It doesn't distort the picture all that much.
-It's great even for general use, such as family photos, and such.
The bad things about it:
-You can't really use it in low light.
-Shows camera's shadow when you use built in flash, at 10mm.

I purchased this lens to shoot interiors for an upcoming job. The little bit I have experimented with it I know it is going to be the perfect lens for the job. I recently went on an assignment to shoot several basketball teams visiting the White House, while in town for a tournament. The groups were large and I was limited by the width of the sidewalk in my distance from them. I don't know what I would have done without this lens. i was able to fit the teams in frame with no problem at all.

I'm happy to buy from B&H again. This time they exceeded my expectations. Even in the near-Christmas time, they delivered lenses to Canada next day, faster than Canadian retailers! I also love that you describe products on your website very precisely. Thanks for the excellent service, I can rely on you!
I was hesitant about buying these lenses because other sources said Canon 10-22mm lenses either made in U.S. or 'other' contry. In fact, I've received them made in Japan!!! Super clear, excellent quality, make a big difference for my photography! And, of course, I can enjoy my Canon 7D even more - the sky is the limit for interior photography.

Comments about Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Autofocus Lens:
A friend of mine came into town recently and had just picked up this 10-22 lens. He let me borrow it for a few shots. Wow! I was really impressed with how wide it went and how solid it felt in my hands. But before I ran out and bought myself one (just based on that) I still did a ton of research online as I was in the market for a new lens anyway. It really came down to a close fight between this Canon and the comparable Sigma. In the end I stuck with the Canon even if it was a bit more expensive. This baby really opens up your options. One thing to note with a lens this wide, if your not shooting landscapes you have to get up close and personal with your subjects with this lens. There are only 2 downsides to this lens I can say so far: 1) the lens hood should always come with the lens. I know its the size of a small plate, but it should still go without saying. 2) I only wish there was a faster aperture version offered for this size lens. I would have spend a lot more for at least an f/2.8, but its just not out there.

This is a great lens. I'm not a professional by any means but I wanted a nice wideangle lens for my 30D and its exactly what I expected. I highly recommend this lens for someone that doesn't have $2000 to spend on a lens.

I have a Canon Rebel T2i camera and needed to purchase a wide angle lense for my landscape photography. (I photograph travel around Europe) I bought the Canon EF-S 10-22mm lens which turned out to be a spectacular purchase! This lens is everything it is advertised to be. It is able to capture the entire shot I need and has no distortion or vignettes in the corners as some lenses may have. If you are looking for a wide angle lense for your Canon, this is the one to buy!

Comments about Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM Autofocus Lens:
First, B&H shipped this lens two days faster than I expected, which was excellent and I had it in time for the Holidays. I ended up purchasing the lens hood and it arrived in two days! B&H has really impressed me with their speedy shipping and extremely competitive prices.
I read several reviews on this lens before buying, including the Ken Rockwell review. This lens does not disappoint. Because it is not an L lens, there is no hood or bag provided. Not a big deal. I ended up buying the hood and it does add a big of protection and can help with lens flare, which is a bit of a problem with ultra-wides.
If you are new to ultra-wide photography, this lens will really help, because it has very little distortion and the distortion it does have can be nearly eliminated in your image/raw editor.
Composing an ultra-wide image can be difficult, because you can get everything in. If you think ultra-wides are great for panoramic landscapes... you might find yourself disappointed. With an ultra-wide, your horizon will be small and you will have a lot of foreground and sky. Instead, I bought this ultra-wide for indoor, architectural, and group photos.

If you have a Canon crop body I would highly suggest getting an EF-S 17-55 as your first lens. After that, this lens should be on your short list. The perspective that this lens affords is really amazing. I can take pictures in the smallest of rooms. Outside, the wide angle is breathtaking. It balances nicely on my EOS 60D. I got a B&H 77m XS-Pro UV filter for protection and weather sealing. This is a slim filter with threads so my cap will stay in place.

I'm using this lens with my 7D and it works just fine, be sure to lock it up at 14mm, so that it won't have too much fish-eye effects.
