This is a pretty simple product but i makes a lot of difference when composing shots. I am used to having an eyecup on my film SLR and wanted one on my D700. I love this thing. It is very comfortable and shields your eyes from extraneous light It does stick out from the camera body about 3cm; however, on the D700 at least, you can fold the ends of the cup back over themselves towards the camera body, rendering it almost flush with the LCD screen when not in use. This protects the cup from getting damaged or snagging on something when not in use.

This little eyecup makes shooting much easier especially shooting in bright lights.

I shoot with eyeglasses and sometimes sunglasses, and the eyecup is a very valuable accessory for me. I can highly recommend it!

The only real way to deal with the Sun obstucting your view in the viewfinder. Can be a bit difficult to take off the old cap, but after that, it's an easy install and well worth it.

Eyecup works either extended (blocking out light) or folds back over its self out of the way, very practical and easy to mount on camera. This eyecup allows one to focus on the image without the distraction of side glare . I only wish I could get the same for my D 300 as well.

Great addition, keeps light out, keeps rain drops out. don't have to have your face as close. Like a pro video camera. buy it, for the price it makes your camera more pro.

Works well to both move face away from LCD screen on back of camera and reduce ambient light from reaching viewfinder. Assembly was relatively easy. Flips down to provide flat profile on rear of camera.

Very easy to install, easy to use, particularly for a bare eye. Not necessarily as good for people with glasses but still works.

I have D3 and D3X. Both have the DK-19 and a DK-17M magnifier. I would not be without this combination.

My only adverse comment is that it's a bit of a PITA to replace with a DR-5 (rt. angle viefinder) when one is needed, but that's really all about Nikon using threaded viewfinder accessories for their Pro-level camera bodies. The slip-on fitting for my D200 (for DR-6) is a lot quicker, but obviously not as "solid" a fixing.

I like this eyecup because it keeps your eye a little further away from the standard eyepiece that comes with the camera which in turn keeps my face further away from the LCD screen. I'm all for less grease/smudge marks on my LCD. Follow the directions and you'll be all set.

It works very well, but using it involves removing a metal ring from your existing eye cup and installing it in your new eye cup. This was a somewhat challenging task for me. Maybe I was just too excited about receiving my new eye cup. ;-)

I've purchased this eye cup for D700. It was easy to install and I got used to it pretty quick. The benefit of totally blocking out the sunlight comfortably is definitely worth the money.

Like many other black rubber products, this also attracts dusts quite well. That's the only downside.

Such a simple improvement - particularly for outdoor shooting where, by the end of several hours, your eyes have had it from the direct light hitting your eye as you peer through the viewfinder. This solves that issue completely.

It serves as a "soft" yet sensible guide for the eye to viewfinder. Wouldn't have a SLR or DSLR without this feature.

It's a must have item for D700 and up. I shame how Nikon being so cheap not even including this rubber piece with the camera when you're paying $2000+. Anyways, this makes the whole shooting experience more comfortable since you don't have to press your nose to the LCD screen so much.
