The Audio-Technica AT898 lavalier microphone is designed to be mounted on, or hidden underneath clothing. It's slim low-profile design is ideal for broadcast and theatrical applications. The tailored frequency response accentuates the frequency response of vocals while minimizing low frequency noise. A low-frequency roll-off switch further minimizes noise due to hum, ambiance and proximity effect. The AT898 features a condenser element with a cardioid polar pattern. The cardioid pattern is effective in minimizing noise and ambiance at the off-axis sections of the microphone capsule. The microphone includes the AT8537 phantom power supply module.

Comments about Audio-Technica AT898 Cardioid Condenser Lavalier Microphone:
The only issue I have with this lav is how the mic clips (supplied) can only be attached to the very thin cable as opposed to the mic's body itself. I always feel like the cable is going to be detached from the microphone every time I remove the clips. If I could use only one of the many different types of clips that are included in the package, I would simply keep it attached to the cable and not have to worry about it, but unfortunately, it is sometimes necessary to switch clips depending on the type of clothing that my interviewees are wearing. Other than that, I think this is an excellent lavalier.

Good quality windscreen and dead cat a must for outdoor use. Very sensitive to wind noise. But great once protected.

Small mic with really long cable. Hides well. The power unit is little long but not unmanageable.
