A high quality, economical 9x50 finderscope with fully coated lenses and a 5.8° field of view. It comes with a mounting bracket for C8 type telescopes.
Finderscopes are secondary scopes, used to help locate objects in the main telescope. Those finderscopes with larger objective lens diameters are able to locate fainter stars, and of course weigh more, too.
A star diagonal, a term commonly associated with 90° mirror diagonals such as this, lets you view objects that are at a 90° angle from the direction the telescope is pointing. This allows comfortable viewing when the telescope is at or near the zenith(directly overhead).
Celestron's erect image diagonals are Amici prism designs, meaning that images are upright and laterally correct. This design, however, instead renders images which are laterally reversed-but are brighter than an erect image diagonal.&3160 When maxing out your magnification capacity given your telescope and seeing conditions, that bit of brightness is pretty important.
The visual back comes standard with most Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes of 5.0" to 8.0" diameters. It screws on to the rear threading to reduce the cavity to take accessories of 1.25", such as star diagonals and tele extenders.
This adpapter allows you to link your telescope drive directly to the cigarette lighter receptacle of your car, for a quick and easy 12v DC power source in one step.
Cord is 25ft in length.
An ultra-heavy-duty equatorial mount, the respected Celestron CG-5 mount has earned its good reputation amongst the amateur astronomy community because it is an affordable, stable beauty. Now the computerized version, available on many of Celestron's finer scopes, is also available for purchase so that you can put any optical tube assembly that you like upon it. The optional GPS accessory is highly recommended for incredibly accurate scope alignments.
Using accessories such as cameras, lens hoods, tele-extenders and a 2.00" diagonal affects the balance of your Celestron telescope.
A Celestron counterweight restores proper balance, making for easier handling and improved accuracy in the tracking of your scope.
You don't need perfect balance to operate your telescope, and in fact it is not always possible to achieve perfect balance with fixed-position weights. You merely seek to reduce(or eliminate) swing when the RA and declination locks are released, and Celestron's counterweights help you easily obtain the balance and stability of your telescope which you desire.
The Celestron Advanced C11-SGT is a fully loaded scope with an automated GoTo system all ready for your disposal. It has the CG-5 EQ mount for supreme imagery free of jitters that would make even the best of resolving power irrelevant. This combination of aperture, automation and price is terribly impressive.
After a quick alignment procedure, you'll have an impressive database of 40,000 objects at your disposal: just tell the computerized hand control what you want to observe and the scope will do the rest. There's an optional accessory that aligns the scope with GPS information for the utmost in accuracy; even tiny stars invisible in the finderscope will be nailed the first time!
The StarBright XLT coatings are all that distinguish this offering from the ordinary Advanced C11-SGT. These coatings dramatically decrease the total percentage of light loss incurred by the scope's system of lenses & mirrors by a measure of 43%! Light is invariably lost as it passes through lenses or is reflected from mirrors, and this can have a particularly dramatic effect of deep space objects. StarBright XLT coatings are a highly intensive process that diminishes this effect and brings the faintest things your scope can resolve into greater detail. They'll bring the details of bigger apertures without adding to the weight of your rig.
A world's standard in telescope oculars, Meade Series 4000 eyepieces yield the widest possible viewing fields consistent with pinpoint edge-of-field sharpness and long eye relief and yet do so with extremely low astigmatism, spherical aberration, and off-axis color. Incorporating 7-layer multicoatings and edge-blackened optics for optimum image contrast, these sophisticated 4-element designs permit levels of optical performance generally impossible with eyepieces of fewer elements.
All Series 4000 eyepieces include a soft rubber eyeguard, custom fitted to each eyepiece with a bayonet mount. The eyeguards fold down for eyeglass wearers, and in fact the folded eyeguard shields eyeglasses from coming into contact with the metal eyepiece housings. Rubber grips are provided on all but the three shortest focal length Super Plossl eyepieces.
All of Meade's Super Plossl eyepieces shorter than 32mm are parfocal, which means they can be exchanged with one another during observing sessions with practically no refocusing necessary.
