I've been using these tapes in a Sony HDR-HC3 HD camcorder since December, 2006. When I first purchased the camcorder I used standard MiniDV tapes and experienced drop outs. This caused great difficulty when trying to edit in Premiere Elements. I have used over 25 of the Sony HDV tapes to date and they have preformed flawlessly. I intend to save the tapes as my masters, so I feel they are well worth the price.

We use a Canon XH A1 and use the Sony HD tapes as they are most consistent than other brands. However, we shoot 20-30 tapes a month and there are always 1-2 tapes that fail (no timecode, do not capture data). It might not be a Sony issue as we've heard certain cameras only play well with certain brand tapes, but, these tapes generally have 1-2 bad tapes every 20-30 tapes.

Bought these tapes and shipped to Canada - paid less half of what I would have paid had I bought the exact same ones from the local stores. Shipping was fast and tapes worked great. Excellent value and fantastic product.

Comments about Sony DVM-63HD HDV Cassette (63 Minutes):
I shoot weddings and was told to buy these tapes for my Canon XH-A1s. I play the footage into my computer using a Canon HV40 and at around the 58 minutes mark I would get serious timecode breaks and streaming issues. I then play into the comp using the XHA1s and it helped tremendously. I've heard people say they never get timecode breaks with these tape. So, your mileage may vary.

I have never had drop outs with this tape. I use these tapes for critical interview or stand-up purposes where a drop out could ruin an entire shoot.

I recently filmed a basketball game and the color and resolution blew me away. I had no problems using the tape in my HDR-FX1000- the picture was great.

Comments about Sony DVM-63HD HDV Cassette (63 Minutes):
I needed some HD Tapes for a shoot I was doing at an airshow. I usually use cheaper non-HD tapes but I got these to make sure I would capture the best picture I could. Worth it. It has that extra edge of clarity and sharpness compared to the standard tapes. It also says it works best with the Sony FX1 which is what I own. The only down side is the costs. At 3-4x the cost, it might not be worth it for every HD shoot I do, depending on how long I'll be shooting I guess. I'd recommend it though if you want the best from your HD shoot. I will add that B&H had them cheaper than anywhere else, so that's a bonus.

I had been told that I could use any DV tapes in my Canon HV30 but I preferred to pay a little extra and use HD tapes.
I am happy. I have not used others and cannot compare but I have not had a single problem with these tapes and the price is reasonable ( they cost 3 times as much in Canada)

These are good tapes for the price. I've encountered few drop-outs using these tapes using my HVR-Z5U, though on occasion it will happen. Use a cleaning cassette for fewer drop-outs. For more "pro" applications I recommend Sony PHDVM-63DM Digital Master Mini DV Cassette tales.
I recommend this product.

I recently ordered this tape because I feel like I haven't been using my HV30 to its fullest potential with standard definition tapes; they're just easier to find in stores when I need to film something in a hurry.
These tapes make your footage look beautiful even if your material is boring (which mine was) It was a clear and definite step up from standard DV tapes.
I guess my only gripe about them is that they aren't available in stores. SD DV is fine, I guess, but it would be nice if, in these days of HD-everything, these were available in a wider market.
