Comments about Audio-Technica AT889cW Headset Microphone:

I bought this headset microphone for use in group fitness classes; I teach 7 hours/week. The gym uses a wireless Audio-Technica ATW-T310 transmitter with a 4-pin connector and provides an Audio-Technica PRO 8/HEXCW headset microphone. This headset is much better than the PRO 8 - cues are clearer and louder at a lower setting on the amplifier, and it picks up very little surrounding noise. The light support wire going around the back of my head holds the mike in place through cardio classes very well. I've only used it for a couple of weeks so cannot rate its durability. One potentially big con; it has a rubber covering around the 4-pin connector ring that has to be squeezed while pulling the connector ring back in order to attach to the transmitter. At the same time I'm squeezing and pulling, I'm rotating the connector to find the right orientation over the 4-pins. Sound awkward? It is. And over time, I don't think the 4-pins and a good connection will last. So if you're just buying a headset to use with your facility's transmitter, and will be attaching/detaching it every time you're there, this will be a frustrating headset to use. I bought my own transmitter and just leave the headset attached, so I am very happy with the headset now that I don't have to deal with the connector.
