This Short Center Column replaces the standard column on the Pro 330DX tripod. This allows the user to take full advantage of the variable leg spread on these units, so that you are not inhibited by the length of the column as to how low you can go. The Pro 330DX can now go down to as low as 14". Ideal for low angle work.

This little piece is useful for getting the tripod much lower than you could. It also allows you to add a ball head. If you want to do macro or experiment with photography without having to practically lie on the ground, this will help you do that job.

Not much to say, it fits my 330DX and allows me to get close to the ground. My only challenge is carrying it around with me. I'm thinking of making a combo center-column-bag/shoulder strap that would go over one of the legs of the tripod so that I always have both columns with me when I have the tripod and don't have to remember to put the short one in my camera bag.

It turns out I didn't need this for my SLIK PRO 340DX tripod because the center column can be shortened easily by removing the lower half. For those without this feature the short center column will work as well. Feather-light in weight, it allows the tripod to go as low as 10" from the ground.
