Sony MSW-M2000 MPEG IMX Format Studio VTR with Complete Professional Betacam Legacy Compatiblity

The Sony MSW-M2000 is a professional MPEG IMX format VTR. The deck will also playback the entire Sony 1/2-inch legacy formats from Betacam Oxide through Digital Betacam and Beta SX. The beauty of the MPEG IMX format is that it can be used with direct access to computer networks and the Internet. The MPEG-2 encoding has been chosen the standard for DTV distribution. It is considered high quality reproduction with low cost and extremely wide ranging platform compatibility. Post-production platforms requiring open compression standards are the reason MPEG IMX was developed. The MSW-M2000 allows broadasters to utilize current 1/2-inch equipment while keeping an eye to the future.

MPEG-Data Compression and Component Video
The MSW-M2000 employs 8-bit 4:2:2 component video sampling and MPEG-2 4:2:2P data compression at 50 mega-bits/second. The MPEG data stream can be output via the SDTI-CP output. This allows for rapid data transfers to non-linear platforms and network servers.
An Eye to the DTV Future
The deck can be set up for up-conversion from standard definition to HDTV formats. With the optional up-conversion card the deck can output 720p, 1080i, and 480p formats. It will also provide the reverse down-conversion making HDTV elements recorded to Digi-Beta or any of the Sony 1/2-inch legacy formats.
Digital Video Requires Digital Audio
The MSW-M2000 can input up to 8 16-bit digital audio channels- all independently editable. Switching to 24-bit audio, the deck can handle 4 channels of audio. Control knows for all eight audio channels are located on the machine's front panel.
Improved Control Panel Design
With continuous improvements in user convenience the MSW-M2000 offers the most logical front panel design. Users of previous 1/2-inch VTRs will find the deck intuitive to operate. The multi-function display provides clear information and easy access to controls.
525/60 and 625/50 Playback
The world of DTV has less and less use for differentiation of international video formats. In fact HDTV completely obscures this issue. The MPEG IMX format decks will playback (only) both 525/60hZ (USA) and 625/50hZ (Euro) digital tapes.
