This is a complete Elinchrom Style 400BX 2 monolight, 800 total watt/second, multi-voltage kit, based on the Elinchrom Style 400BX -- Elinchrom's third generation Style 400 watt/second monolight. The 400BX automatically senses the AC line voltage from 90 to 260 volts, and adjusts internally. Simply replace the modeling light and add a plug adapter for voltage over 120.
The BX400 has a large LED readout of the power level, which is push-pad adjustable in 1/10 F/Stop increments from 400 to 25 w/s. It has an LED and switchable audible beep for 100% recycle/ready indication. Its built-in, switchable (on/off) optical slave fires instantaneously when it "sees" the light from another flash. The 150 watt modeling light may be switched full on/off, or proportional to the power level selected. It has a centrally located 7mm diameter umbrella socket, fan cooling, auto-dump, and it accepts a 3.5mm diameter mini plug style sync cord, which is included in this kit.
Also included in this kit are head umbrella reflectors, a translucent, and silver umbrella, 2- 9' Manfroto light stands with case and a carry case for the monolights.

Comments about Elinchrom Style 400BX Complete 2 Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
from build to ease of use this is the kit to get. The price wont break the bank either. You are buying a quality set of lights, and the accessories that come with it are very good to. I also noticed NO color shift when cranking the lights down. I couldnt be happier.

Comments about Elinchrom Style 400BX Complete 2 Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
As a advertising specialist, I find myself in a variety of photographic needs.
This set-up is versatile enough for me to shoot in the studio and packs up quick for a small location shoot.
Digital is the only way to go for someone like me and this unit fits the bill.

Comments about Elinchrom Style 400BX Complete 2 Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I used the kit to learn how to light effectively.
Benefits of elinchrom include a good range of accessories, digital power controls, a great light sensor (to sync w/ other lights) and reasonable color stability.
Light is extremely powerful. I leave the units mostly on its lowest power setting, unless using grids or huge softboxes.
Since the controls are digital, settings are reproducible and easily readable across the room. The available are always fun: the octabox, the various softboxes and the gels/reflectors/grids.
For the more advanced photographer with lighting experience (and some of the existing items in this package), I would highly recommend considering the 300rx/600rx/skyport package in lieu of this starter kit. It offers a more barebones kit with greater f-stop range.
Enjoy!

Comments about Elinchrom Style 400BX Complete 2 Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I use this for prom and studio photography. It is very well made from the light heads to the stands and bags which makes it well suited for transport or permanent studio use. It comes with all necessary power and flash sync cables. The power cables are nice & long. The sync cables could stand to be a little longer for some situations so you may want to purchase an extension cable. Elinchrom uses a low sync voltage (5 volts) so you do not need to use a safe sync voltage regulator to protect your camera. I use a Nikon D80 with this kit.

Comments about Elinchrom Style 400BX Complete 2 Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I bought these to replace my old AB kit, and I think I made a very good decision. They have fans to keep them running cool, and they have plenty of power to work in a small-medium studio. Sturdy enough to hold the 53" octa. Give even clean whitebalanced light. Comes with everything to get you started on a two light set up. The included stands are not the greatest but they hold up okay, but for more rigidity I would recommend a more stable stands.
