The right angle viewfinder gives a clear view and the 2X magnification is great for manual focus. My only complaint concerns the plastic adapter to fit the DR-5 to the D2 and F6 cameras. It should be made from metal instead of plastic considering the cost of the finder.

Great for low level shots.
It would be better if it could also straighten out some. I love it for low level shots, but then I have to remove it to raise up to get a higher level.

Also, if you have a flash mounted, you can't get your eye up to it. It does rotate left and right and this helps.
The magnification is great.

For me a must have accessory for shooting from interesting angles. Optics and construction are first rate Nikon quality. Only draw back is the time consuming threaded mount on pro camera models.

This item does what it's supposed to do albeit at a high price. It saves me from having to stoop over so much, as I shoot @ 3-4' typically. Also useful when camera is high up...
Don't like the way the mount won't stay in one place. It turns often & that is irritating... What can you do, only game in town for pro Nikon bodies...

I used to work with waist level finder cameras for a while and I honestly do miss this features on modern SLR cameras. This DR-5 Right Angle Viewfinder comes really close to the WLF's usefulness and gives you a switchable 2x magnification. I use it especially for macro work and low shooting angles.

For astro-imaging there is no other option. For perfect focus at difficult angles this can't be beat. Quality is typical Nikon...99% exceptional. No hesitations. Perfect fit snug & secure.

Comments about DR-5 Right Angle Viewfinder for Professional Nikon Cameras:
The DR-5 makes working low to the ground so much easier and the results have improved my compositions with landscapes, macro and scenic pictures. Now, I'm much more inclined to explore and take advantage of low angle compositions than previously. A ground level tripod and knee pads are must have accessories.
A metal tab shaped tool is included to install/ remove the DR-5. It would be nicer if it were not required but that issue is a minor one. Overall, the DR-5 is a well made product. It should prove quite useful to just about any nature photographer.

very useful when the camera is pointed at angle that strains your neck or back. very clear focusable view and the 2 magnification settings is a bonus. fits on securely and removes easily. well worth the money when it comes time to be a contortionist.

On a telescope both the magnified image for focusing and the access are really helpful. Shooting from low angles is also easier - you don't have to lay down - especially in places you'd rather not.

It takes a minute to put on, but once on it's great. I as hoping it would be a little more pop-on, pop-off.

It really helps me get those shots that I love to do that are at an angle my body just wont let me get otherwise, and the 2x switch lets me focus in with more precision, I love it!

Not that I'm too foolish. Buying this was a stroke of genius. The right angle viewer makes tripod work, especially low to the ground, easier and therefore more productive.

This one little attachment has made a world of difference in ease of use and working at odd angles. I no longer hesitate at working from a low position that made me some kind of yoga master. While I do not use the magnifier nearly as often, capturing images that have require close-up focus, it has proven very handy. All and all, one of the best purchases I have made for my D3s.

Comments about DR-5 Right Angle Viewfinder for Professional Nikon Cameras:
I use this on a D3X with my 28 & 35 mm PC lens. Since these are manual focus lens and my eyes are not what they used to be I have found this tool to be invaluable. The higher magnification setting lets me hit focus all the time. It is built well as it should be. Tried a Hoodman on a D300 and did not like the clarity of the Hoodman. The Nikon is head and shoulders above it. I wish I did not have to screw an adapter into the eyepiece socket on the camera to use it, but that is a very small price to pay.

Comments about DR-5 Right Angle Viewfinder for Professional Nikon Cameras:
I have used the less expensive universal fit right angle viewers sold under various names and while they are usable the attachment to the camera is not as secure as the direct screw in threads of this NIKON unit. Granted it costs as much as 5 times more but the reduced frustration level in the field is worth every penny. I shoot wildlife and nature and the finder affords the ability to place the camera at ground level without having to lay down too. While the D700 I use this with has live view I personally find it easier to focus off of the ground glass. The included case is nice as it keeps dust off of the optics while in storage in my photo vest.

This is a great product it makes shooting in difficult circumstances like being close to the ground a pleasure rather than a pain. I was impressed about how easy it was to install and also to change back to the regular viewfinder. It is a regular in my camera bag.

this Nikon product is an absolute necessity when you are doing floor level work. college and high school wrestling shot at the floor level gives my clients a unique perspective that is great for our "bottom" line. also using this with my D3 and 70-200 when working with kids and seniors lets me work lower without the interference caused by aging.
had used the "other" manufacturer for a very short time ~ last words, price may be a little higher but you can't beat the stability and the quality!

Very pricey but worth the cash. AS you know, if it is Nikon it always costs more than it should but B&H had the best $$ value out there and the bottom line is, this viewer saves my back in more ways than one. Install and uninstalls well enough and the quality is way up there. I use this viewer on both my Nikon D700 and my F6.
