The Nikon DR-6 provides an upright, unreversed image for right-angle viewing, which is very convenient for waist-level or low-angle photography. Individual eyesight adjustment is possible with the built-in diopter, and the reproduction ratio can be set to 1:1 or 1:2.
This version can be used with all Nikon SLR cameras that feature a rectangular viewing eyepiece, e.g.: D300s, D300, D200, D100, D90, D80, D70s, D70, D60, D50, D40X, D40 , D5000, D3000, N80, N75, N70, N65, N60, N55, N50 and Pronea 6i cameras.

This is just one of those "hidden" joys. I originally purchased it for wedding group shots and full length formals: taking the image at waist level makes for a better picture (why I say it's good for portraits). And what do you know, it surely works for that. But then there is so much more. Keep in mind that 99% off all images are from eye-level. This gets you out of eye-level mode offering a different perspective (that is why I say it's good fro everyday use). So that alone is worth it. And for macros this viewfinder is even better. I started using an extension tube for some macro shots and the ability to (A) set up the tripod and view the subject via the right angle viewfinder is so nice; but on top of the (B) you have a 2x magnification. Try using an extension tube on a lens & manually focusing; that 2x is nice! Even my wife, the eternal skeptic when it comes to me spending money, likes it! We primarily use it on a D300s but have used it on the D90 as well.

This thing works VERY well, the two magnifications are great, and with the diopter adjustments you can easily ensure accurate focus. Also plus 10 points for being able to see all exposure info that you would normally see through the viewfinder. The main thing to remember with this finder is that if you have a flash attached to the camera your forehead will bump into it and you won't be able to see through it very well at all. The description says it's "very convenient for waist-level or low-angle photography", which is very true, IF you are not using a flash! With a flash (I use an SB-800) it's VERY difficult to see through when the finder is flipped to the "up" position.

Comments about Nikon DR-6 Right Angle Viewfinder (Rectangular Slip-On):
I find the DR-6 most useful in nature photography when my subject is up a hill or on a tree, and I'm shooting with a long lens on a tripod. Aiming up, if I didn't have this wonderful little device, I would have to kneel or sit on the ground to use my camera's viewfinder, craning my neck. With it, I can just use the viewfinder. It is a little difficult to use with eyeglasses, but other than it's excellent. The fact that the left-right orientation is maintained makes it much easier.
Currently, I am using mine on a D7000, but other Nikon DSLRs with rectangular eyepieces will also fit.

Well made product. You can see the entire viewfinder with or without glasses. Bright sharp image. Everything you could ask for and the same quality as the camera. I use it with a D7000 and it performs beter than expected. Worth the price.

Comments about Nikon DR-6 Right Angle Viewfinder (Rectangular Slip-On):
I was looking for something to allow me to see into the camera in awkward positions, without having to do live view.
It was an expensive solution, but well worth it in the end. The glass is great and I love the 1 or 2 x magnification feature... I wish my normal viewfinder had that.
My only two complaints is the diopter adjustment will often slide back setting it out of focus. Also, the arm will swing around a little too easily at times.
Great product overall though.

Comments about Nikon DR-6 Right Angle Viewfinder (Rectangular Slip-On):
This makes low level and macro photography so much easier. Saves the "crick in the neck" from looking straight through the viewfinder when the camera is set up low to the ground. It is easy to mount and also comes with a convenient carrying case. Another great Nikon product

I use this mostly for low macro flower shots.
Getting to old to lay down on the ground to look through view finder to shoot Lady Slippers and Jack In The Pulpit etc. It's easy to use and the 2x magnification is a plus.

Comments about Nikon DR-6 Right Angle Viewfinder (Rectangular Slip-On):
I use the RA viewfinder for low-angle shots of motorcycles and cars, as well as nature shots for pleasure. It slips onto my D200 easily and securely. The view is clear and undistorted, and the grid a great help in framing. Quality is fine. The built-in diopter and a choice between 1X and 2X magnification helps put one reviewer's comment that the Nikon RA viewfinder is "an expensive piece of plastic," in perspective. I doubt anyone except the newest of newbies took it seriously anwyay. Getting used to the RA view has been more of a challenge than I expected, but obviously that is a personal issue not related to the vewfinder.

Don't know why I have not purchased this item long way ago.At 63 I now have no problems in taking low to the ground shots. No more lying prone to take the elusive animal shots or stoopng for the high bird shots. Portrait shooting much easier. Also like the X2 by flick of a switch.

I am 76 years old and not limber. It takes me several minutes to get down on the ground, and longer to get up. Yet I love low angle shots. The right angle viewfinder enables me to take the kind of shots I love to take without creaking, groaning, or showing my age! It is EASY!

When the surgeon finished with my neck , looking up was impossible. I never realized how many images required looking up, including anything near the ground, like flowers.
I have only had it a short time, however at this time I am very satisfied.

I purchased this viewfinder for use on my copy stand. The 2X focusing that this viewfinder allows is unsurpassed by cheap imitations. You can't go wrong with this high quality viewfinder.
Fortunately, this product fits both my camera bodies, but I'd likely buy an extra just to keep with my kit. Still, they should make one viewfinder with multiple adapters. I find the quality is well worth the price.

I would have given this product 5 stars but the price is a bit much at close to $200. The quality is of course excellent and it works better than advertised. All my Nikon gear has been of the highest quality but many of the peripherals are pricey. Even at this price I only wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase it.
